It was like that at daylight, and it got worse as the day went on. Got a lot rougher than the video. Attachment 493510
But scratched out a meal, 5 crappie and 3 blue cat. Well, and a whopper gou that swims to annoy someone else [emoji38]

Beats laying on the couch with COVID!
That would be a handful in a kayak. Good job getting out and catching some though. Buckeye hope you get better soon.
Yeah me and the lil darlin….worse this time than the first…..we are on the mend though
Get better soon my friend. Prayers sent for you both.

Good to see you ketchin' a few Jeffy.
And Buckeye, prayin' for you and Lil'D.
I've found on Ross Barnett when it looks like that to hunt protected waters for crappie fishing. Even in protected waters the bite seems to slow down. In the swamp here wind has little effect on the bite.
I’ve learned, on Pickwick NOTHING is protected lol! You can spend 15-30 minutes relocating just to find the wind at that spot is blowing 90 degrees from where you left [emoji23]
I have come to accept I is what I is.
I fish open water. It is a skill set, tactics and equipment, although I regard it as inferior to a talented single pole fisherman. But it’s how I’m wired. I do miss my last boat at times though. 19 foot pure Northern tiller steer Walleye boat, complete with wave wackers. I could hold stern first into big waves and fish with tiller in one hand and rod in the other. Just got tired of the slow speed and wet ride. Even though it was big water capable, it did put tons of spray up in the air, and back in your lap at times. Rainsuits weren’t just for rain lol.
I sure hate fishing in the wind . But beats sitting it out .
I've come to realize by your posts you're a tough one, put your chin in the wind and stick steel to Crappie. Interesting talking about putting the stern towards the wind. When I'm fishing a oyster reef for Speckled Trout I use a Tail Anchor, Hooker 8 pounder, got a good 4ft of chain on it though, holds well because hooked off the corner of the stern the boat is not yanking on it if the wind is blowing. Sits rock solid. Takes a lot bigger anchor if you anchor off the bow.
Any long line method (pulling, pushing, crankbaits, planer boards) makes a little wind and chop more tolerable and opens opportunities to fish that I didn't have when I was strictly jig fishing or slow-trolling spider rigging--just need enough trolling motor and battery to go as long as desired.
that bounce will give a person sea legs later on for sure , but a nice dinner will likely cure that issue ....
