We are going on a week trip to gulf shores tomorrow, & I'm looking for some suggestions for a guide down there for 2 girls, & Me & the wife. I've used Zeke's down there once, but want to take the family out for a 4 hr trip. I would probably want to look for some speckled trout, flounder, & maybe some redfish, but something pretty close, so that we are doing more fishing than driving. Anyone have suggestions?
I always use Zeke's down there and have caught more fish than any where else on the gulf coast.
Zeke's is the best and they have the supposed best back water fishing on the coast, and there the rules in AL are different on the reds in FL...Food luck... Those flounders are good to eat...
If you want an inshore trip, go by MO'S BAIT and Tackel on Canal Rd in Orange Beach. He books for a lot of inshore guides.

I'm back from gulf shores, & I had an awful experience with Zeke's Marina that I will share. I made my reservations, & the charter service convinced me to do an inshore trip for my family. It was more expensive , but they thought my kids would enjoy it more.
We arrived, & the charter service "forgot" to tell the guide about the trip, & had to reschedule it. My wife wasn't very happy about that.
So, the next day, the "captain" arrived, & we boated out to look for some shad, & found some around 25 minutes after we left.
We went to our 1st spot, (and only spot) for the morning. There were 4 other boats right under a bridge, and we fished right on top of them. Our guide spent as much time talking to the other guide as dealing with my girls & wife.
After 1 1/2 hours, we had caught 2 fish, and the guide told me we should cut our trip short, he would discount it, but the fish just weren't biting.
So, in short, I left there somewhat P'O'd, and felt like the guy couldn't guide very well, and they ripped me off. So, bottom line, DO NOT USE ZEKE'S!!

Man, I hate that you had a bad experience. The guides in our area don't have a great name either but if you ever get down my way (South Louisiana) give me a call and I would be glad to take you out.

I would think after the guide had that bad of a screw up he would give you a BIG DISCOUNT! :rolleyes:

I just wanted to make sure you know that we will have a fish fry at the Fall get together we discussed on another post. It has been along time since I had Crab mustard.

DP, if I can arrange it, I will try to bring some crabs up there with me. On second thought, I doubt that will happen b/c that is along way to ride with the smell of crabs in the back seat! :eek: Maybe I can bring some of those sweet marsh shrimp that Ceb and Gooch like so much! :DQuote:

Next time, we may just call you up & go to south louisiana instead. I have never met anyone from louisiana that wasn't real nice. Just to follow up, I decided to email Zeke's to tell them that I had the bad experience. It's been a week, and I've not heard back from them. I told them that I would be spreading the word about their service, & this was a chance to make this right, but all I got was crickets. I guess they don't need buisness. What a bunch of buffoons! No change in my opinion. DON'T USE ZEKE'S IN GULF SHORES!!
ZEKE'S is OK for offshore fishing, but inshore in Perdido Bay is pretty poor except in spring or at night around dock lights. If you want inshore fish in the Gulf Shores area you should fish Mobile Bay, Dauphin Island areas. Pensacola--Big Lagoon is pretty good in the spring.
