They certainly are smart and must know you aren't a threat. I can walk right up to the cotton tails in my yard and get a few feet away before they move. They took over my yard now that the big dog is gone. Now we have a couple of rabbit holes in our yard and probably baby ones as well. We also had a pet bunny We named Max who became a big part of our family and we had him for 16 years and that might be a record since they rarely live more than 10 years. I miss the little guy.
one of our friends got a pet rabbit ,
it was on fakebook complete with a super nice cage ,
they were going out of town and nobody to take care of him
WHAT a FIND ! he is totally house broke and comes when you call him
he kennels up when told to do so and he is for sure
VERY SMART !
he has a super great peronality and likes to make a bit of trouble on purpose too
he sneaks the dog food when no one is looking , he knocks down the kids building blocks when they aint looking and does a few tricks as well ....
sits like a statue most of the time by the fireplace and you would never even know he is there ....
darn cool pet for sure
They used to give the Great Dane fits. She would get close to catching them and then they would make a full speed turn and add some distance
I have not seen a jackrabbit since 1982. That is the year I moved from the panhandle of Texas to East Texas.

There ain’t many anywhere these days , a few spots have a couple , that spot has quite a few , as in we saw 3 different ones in one day ….not sure where they all went , but to be sure they are gone , we used to even see a few in dfw way back when ….now they are pretty rare everywhere….Quote:
