PB Bass
I don't fish for bass, but today I caught my PB by a long shot.
In my exploration of the NYC water reservoirs, I found a new spot loaded with medium size gills. After catching about 20, I moved to another spot, surprisingly shallow, so I didn't have much hope. After a couple casts, a fish started pulling line. Thankfully I moved to 8lb braid, since the 4lb I was using before would never have held.
After a good fight, I netted a massive bass.

I didn't have a measuring tape, so I lined it up to my rod to measure later. By that measurement, it was about 19.5 inches.

Congrats on the PB!
But I'm not seeing the picture of it, only the sunnies....
Could be something on my end; anyone else not seeing it?
We want to see it!

I was going through some old photos. Every nice bass I've caught has been on a black beetlespin!

Nice bass. Personally, I'd delete the bottom pic.

In my best Roy Scheider voice from Jaws........."you kinda need a bigger net"
That's a beauty, congrats!

That’s a nice one! Extra nice on light gear. I got one on 6 lb mono a lot of years back that scaled at 5lbs7oz. Took a long time to calm down after that. They always get my heart rate up when they’re big like that. I hope you get another bigun soon!

Bass do like the little black beetle. I often fish a 1/64th oz. one without the spinner for bluegill and will usually catch a few bass in the mix. Never one that big though - congrats on the great catch. About 16 inches is probably the largest I've caught on one of the micro jigs.

Congrats on some very nice catches for sure. Absolutely love the colors...Never used the safetypin type spinners much. Always seemed to foul up in my line somehow. Congrats again.

Yeah that gotta be heck of fight for ultra light. Congrat for your PB whether you like it or not. When I target crappie or bluegill just one or two bass is enough more than that it starts to get annoying lol.
