My wife had fusion of L4, L5, and S1 seven years ago, from deteriorating disc problems. Surgery was a big success, pain before surgery was excruciating. One is key was giving 100% effort in Physical Therapy as soon , directed by doctor, as possible. A lot of data available for daily walking with a purpose routine benefits strengthening lower back muscles, which takes much stress off lower back. Will pray for for your condition and decision.

No surgery here. During Physical Therapy I laid on an inverted chair for 30 minutes with 25 lb weight strapped to my chin.
My biggest issue was going to physical theory 24 times before getting cat scan . Treated for over a month for a muscle sprain and then find out it was a disc . Medical profession today is lacking . The rich do not care , the poor pay nothing , the rest get hosed so folks walking across boarders can be treated . This is not a bashing of any politician , as they "all" sux .
Had an employee in 2021 get a back injury. This happened the 1st time I had taken a real vacation in 9 years. Just my luck, all said go enjoy yourself what can happen in a week?? Dying words there for sure, lol.
So I was out west, story told he came in Monday fine, by 8am he sprained his back bending over to get a tool. Lead man said you fine and worked him all week. I come back the following Monday and he comes limping in or more less a slow crawl. I got the scoop on the injury as was hot to say the least, he shouldn't have been coming to work period! Told him take day-off go see a Dr. now!
So he proceeds to Dr. with company insurance. Nurse Practitioner examines and X rays serious sprain in lower back. Here's a Doctors note for work off / paid leave for a week and here's a pain med script come see me in 7 days. This went on for 7 weeks! I finally filed a a workman's comp claim on him. Within 2 days they had him at a specialist for MRI / Cat Scan the works! Turns out bulged disc L1 / L2.
Long story short, if your having persistent back (or any lingering ailment) pain for a few days or more it's probably serious and don't just go to Primary doctors especially NP only. Seek out a specialist. I won't comment on the dynamics of our healthcare, I could be ousted :Rofl
Pretty much what I did . Never had a back issue in my life . was one disk. Shaved it off last Monday after 7 weeks of heck . Back never hurt ,just pain in hip , leg and knee .Told me it would heal on its own so that was the plan for about a month . I hollered calf- rope .Told them that if they gave me medical marijuana , it would look like a dumpster fire . lolQuote:

Well al was good for two months .lol Back to the doctor tuesday to see where we go from here . Same problem but not as bad . As long as sitting no issues . stand up and immediately feels like a hornet sting on the hip and a red wasp in the knee . Glad I am retired as I would lose the crop running back and forth from doctor's office . Missed all of spring fishing and dang near all summer so far . Plan to be in the boat through November . About give up on tree rats due to arthritis makes cleaning them a pain . lol

What to heal with scar tissue??? My experience would be a failure on scar tissue...Different problem I'm sure, but my scar tissue wrapped around my small intestine and choked it off. required surgery to get things right...All was good till my knees and back went to the dump...Now I'm over weight and everything's going to pot...and not the smoking kind either...
Eagle1, Praying the Dr's right and the scar tissue heals and the pain subsides permanently.
I was at Kentucky Lake when mine started bothering me. Only hurt if I was sitting. Started out as an annoyance. I did physical therapy and injections. Probably another year went by and it gradually getting worse. Pain in my left shoulder and arm down to the elbow. Turns out I have degenerative disc disease. If your backs, arms or legs are bothering you get it checked out. Might stop some future pain.Quote:
