Busy
Yes I was. Dropped in about 8 after breakfast with my queen. I was looking for gills but was hoping for anything dumb enough to hit my jig. I found lots of players today. First, I found gills, about 15 or em. Then I ran out of bank and I played with some Crappie on a deep tree. I got burned out on them and didn’t want to give up my find so I moved and found some more gills, about 20 more and these liked my hand ties. Then they acted like they’d had enough of me so I checked another tree and found some more crappie, and a couple were big! By the time I checked the time it was near to 1 and I was hungry so home I went. I kept nothing but the smiles and memories but I know where to find some for dinner when the time comes. THIS was a STELLAR morning like I haven’t had in a while. Hope there’s one in your near future. Also hope to see y’all soon, it’s been a while since we gathered. Here’s a few pics of some of the better ones.

told you a few crappie were still out there. and those gills leave my mouth watering.
-
did u use just jigs on the gills, if so which ones as i dont have a lot of experience with gills and jigs justworms
-
Yes Linda, all jigs. Very light and most folks can’t cast em far without a float or something. Darker earth tone colors work best and a super slow bottom crawl retrieve with and occasional pause. You also have to stay in touch to feel the pickup, they’re sneaky little devils. If you look up turtles jigs hey make some that I use when I don’t use my own, they’re actually a bit better in some ways. Black and brown mostly. Hope you see some beds on your side image and get a few. It’s worth setting up an ultralight rig just for these.

Hard to beat catching gills on Ultra-light gear. Thanks for sharing your fishing adventure with us.

Dang Skeet, you hit em hard! That's a skill many fishermen don't have. Thanks!
