That's horrible. Glad they were caught and punished.
How many deer were wounded with that .22 and suffered because of it? Glad to hear they were caught!
Wardens must be different in that part of pa because south eastern wardens don't do much if you report illegal activity same in Northern MD .they are a joke around here believe me .I won't get into details but I have seen first hand and its a waste of breath to call them round here .
I had a place in WV for years and witnessed first hand a ex DNR employee and the local game warden and his pa state cop brother do illegal stuff all the time .shoot from road, shoot after hours ,shoot to close to occupied dwelling ,and on posted property. lost all respect for wardens and won't ever call them its a shame because I see illegal stuff all the time .
That was awful.
The leaving it to rot part is what is bad. If they killed them to ear, especially because they were hungry. I wouldn't feel so bad about it
a few deer taken out under the rug per say to feed folks that were in need would go past my eye without a second glance .
but the wanton kill em for fun thing burns my behind .
most of the wardens here in Texas seem to play by the rules , but as with the police there are just not enough of them to cover all the ground in these parts.
we could pretty easily get away with not playing by the rules in many cases here , but it just isn't my speed to play like that .
I will say this about that though , locals will often get a pass and or minor slap on the wrist on rules and regs. slippage in many investigations, but for sure out of town folks will get it like nobody's business in these parts.
don't mess with Texas rules apply if you like to poach down here ...
and YES they use live video and drones now here ....facts
Truthfully, they only got a slap on their wrist, for what they did. Case in point, years ago, I know of a guy, on opening day of deer season, shooting a buck, before the time to start. He lost his license for 5 years, fined, and they took his deer.
Leaving the deer to rot. That’s beyond disgraceful. They did not get the punishment they deserve in my opinion, by far.

Hmmm, Slap on the wrist, especially if the last one mentioned who owned/possessed a gun he wasn't supposed to have.
Should have took vehicles, gun, licenses ban forever and $ 1500 for each deer + 5 years in prison but maybe they knew someone .
it's our ding dong criminal judicial system is my guess , all them bleeding heart folks that think the time don't fit the crime thing , murder is now a slap on the wrists in many cases , seen so many horrific crime things go lightly punished it just amazes me .
and turning them folks back out quickly like most judicial systems do , just creates a pure out evil monster in the future.:banghead
what really amazes me is how so many parents raised so many thoughtless callous non human life forms and even up to in some cases helping protect them from the justice they deserve for the crimes they commit ....
my dad would have disowned me for the wanton killing maiming and left to rot waste of a natural resource ....fact
For sure our judicial system is no longer fair, balanced, and evidence based. Our society suffers the same fate. Get back to the Golden Rule.
If you go back to the early 80s, you will find that a former Game Commissioner, Cameron County Commissioner, Outdoor Writer,
and publc school teacher in Cameron county paid a similar price for shooting a doe and placing his wifes tag on it.
After having shot a buck prior to that and using his own tag.
He was immediately fired as the outdoor writer for the Pittsburg Press, as well as several other publications.
I had a letter from him written in the 70s on official Game Commission stationary where he outright called me a slob hunter.
That because of my preferred method of hunting.
Which was and still is shooting from a bench from ridge to ridge.
Why on earth would they not receive lifetime bans? Total bull shooting them and leaving them to rot. Examples need to be made.
There is a lot of people that have a badge doing things when it comes to hunting that are shady .I have seen it first hand and heard many story's from trusted friends especially in WV but hay they ARE THE LAW .things sure ain't like they used to be .I watch that north woods law and every time think they sure ain't like what I'm used to seeing .might be cause of that big camera to .
Old guy I knew for years that grew up in WV told me him and a buddy would go hunting rabbits with lights at night in the field behind the wardens house and stop and bat the breeze with him after they shot a pile of em and were done for the night .its all about who ya know what you can get away with .
