Crappie Magnet plastics

Got me a bag for free at Christmas , big ole baits for sure .
thought it would hammer on winter fish ....
never got a peck ....go figure :dono
sometimes baits I am sure about ain't magic .
sometimes baits I ain't sure about turn out to be so ....
will give it a second chance soon , just saying :highfive
in all fairness , it was SKUNK out there , the last storm really ravaged the place , one boat got flipped upside down and was barely floating .
dock planks and foam all over the place and the list goes on .
it is my opinion there wasn't much for fish in the area that visit .
or I totally lost my touch ....:dono
went to a much smaller bait that should have got bit too and yet again .....NADA:banghead
No KABOOM is the word .....
p.s. bet money it is a hammer if you are on top of fish

That's a great looking bait you'd think they would have thumped it. That's part of the challenge and fun catching these fish.

I smelled the skunk as well yesterday fishing for bass, had one good strike that I missed and that was it. Had ice along the banks. Bright side is I got the annual skunk out of the way early so things should only get better the rest of the year, hopefully a lot more "KABOOM".

They are great baits with great colors and action. Maybe you didn’t whisper loud enuff! :dono

This is fact , when stumbling around on the bank , crappie are the Ultimate challenge , it is a rare thing for me to leave without even a peck , but to be very sure it can happen.

Same for me Ketchn went out yesterday only 2 crappie to my name.

Conditions were not good heavy rains and wind with 40mph gusts. I was the only one out there but my desire to go outweighed my logic. In the short of it no matter how bad I need a trip I’m not gonna go with weather that bad again.

many a baits fall into the deadly dan category when the bite is solid , this is true for sure , some of the ugliest and some of prettiest and so on ......but more often than not most baits will turn a head or 2 in tough conditions , I still think that bait will whack them in the right conditions and to be sure the conditions that visit were poor for that location .

When the bite is light, use the Trout Magnet.

That bait in that color is awful ... won't catch anything on it. Might as well throw them all away!

I haven’t done well at all with the Slab Magnet you used. Even cut it smaller too. Now the Crappie Magnet is a different story. The fish in my area love them. Got my PB on a Butla Gold one. 3.28lber in late 2022.

I have never tried the slab magnet, but like Chaunc the crappie magnets work very well, and Trout Magnets are my go to and are just plain deadly.

Ketchn, did you try maggots or other live bait in the same spot?
Did fish show up on sonar in the area(s) fished?

Agree with these statement:
Many a baits fall into the deadly dan category when the bite is solid.

Some of the ugliest and some of prettiest and so on, but more often than not, most baits will turn a head or 2 (even) in tough conditions.

I still think that bait will whack them in the right conditions, and to be sure, the conditions that day were poor for that location. (lure /presentation?)

Fish have been a little finicky for me this week . Lots of followers and some takers no matter what bait I dropped on them .

I have several packs of those given to me but never tried them. I like the crappie magnets and around deer season I was slaying them with the trout magnets. I tend to go smaller 32nds or 64th jigs.

I got a witness on their effectiveness. Caught crappie in channels off big flats on them in late October. They are the hammer when the bite is right. The White Bass will chow 'em down too. I'd go small & light with the water cold and muddy.

I have times on the water when a crappie won't touch a 2" bait. Drop them a 1" bait and they will fight to see who gets to it first. One thing I learned about crappie a long time ago is logic is not always useful when targeting them. I have never dealt with a fish that can be so finicky.

I almost never use live bait for crappie, I was on foot , no sonar, the spot I hit is sometimes legendary, but typically not good this time of year anyway, but I thunk I could as they say :Rofl

This …..but in my case I put small down as well ….it just wasn’t meant to be….

Fall fish love a big bait …..facts

Here in Yuma,az. Area, my winter fishing location . One day they were killin the white/ chart, crappie magnet on a fin-spin, the next day nothing. Waiting patiently for the big red ear to start biting. They are a durable bait, caught 22 crappie on one bait.
its hard to beat days in the 70s nights in the 50s.
