Trout time
MDC had stocked couple times but too busy crappie fishing and hosting deer hunters and family stuff. Waited till they stocked again and met my cabin buddy to get some.
He had two using dough but I would rather use spinners. Took a hour or so of constant casting but finally hooked a real nice one. Then few minutes later another but not near as big.
Then caught another smaller one and then nothing.
Had a lady come fish near us talking up a storm excited but still learning. We helped her rig up and encouraged her to just keep casting and be patient.
Good first day and will take another go at it to take advantage of weather. Attachment 477005Attachment 477006

Those are good looking trout. Used to catch a lot of them. They put up a pretty good fight.

I've been after them since they first stocked. Carondelet has been tough unless you get there on the first day of stocking since nobody knows how to count to four and keep 10-20 that first day. I do better at Suson and Walker even though Walker is catch and release. Haven't kept any yet. Did catch a lunker trout from Walker a couple weeks ago, a 22" hen which was fun. Thinking of going to Busch this weekend.

Yeah we know who is keeping 10 or 20 on first days, shorter guys who keep putting them in bags and taking them to their cars with impunity. Have called MDC and asked them to come check for licenses and fish but so far no one I've seen there. At Busch they do check and have arrested a couple of them for being aggressive in keeping but also harrassing guys who were ketchn and trying to get them to leave their spots.
When I am there I will loudly comment when I see them doing this about MDC is going to be using undercover guys and when they are caught if they are having them in their vehicles they can be impounded. You should see the rush to leave when I do that.
Was at Busch yesterday and no one was ketchn anything but one guy had a 8 incher. They were all using jakes and spinning baits or dough. My friend Tom will step up and start ketchn when he's there using small dark crappie hair jigs. So you should do well there.
