30 YEAR ANNIVERSARY
30 years ago I purchased a cheap $10 vise, a few tools, thread, jigs and some tying material on my 36th Birthday and started my tying journey. I'm 66 years young today. Bought a book by Skip Morris on fly tying since I didn't even know how to start the thread on the hook. First few jigs were started by tying overhand knots on shank and then wrapping over those. The book was a huge help and got me going in the right direction. Was hitting the fly shop every week when I got paid for more tying materials and with each passing day my obsession for tying grew. In these 30 years I've tied probably over 500,000 jigs and while I don't tie as much as I used too it's still a big part of my life still to this day. The support I got from other tyers when I found this site in 2009 helped me become what I am today, a better fisherman and a tying addict. Thanks Crappie.com and all the members here on this site. P.S. I'm not done yet.

Wow! Congratulations on your milestone. So…it’s your birthday?

Today is my birthday even though it's not listed at the bottom with the other birthday's. Did get an email from Crappie.com wishing me a Happy Birthday and that's good enough for me. I've accumulated quite a bit of materials in 30 years, stuff is everywhere and still buy more. I'm a bit of a hoarder when it comes to materials. Need to downsize since some stuff hasn't been used in many years but keep putting it off. Maybe one day.

Happy Birthday.
Downsizing isn’t all that bad. You get to buy replacements later.

Eric kinda stole my words. Happy Birthday, our Moms were thinking alike. My Bday is today, the 30th. Hope you get to thaw out enough to go play some. And congrats on the anniversary too. I don’t remember the day but like you, it changed the way life has progressed a lot. I always have something to do. You give me ideas almost every time you post a new one. Those you sent me will get some play when I step back from the salt adventures, the river is high and fast right now but that too will pass. Hope the day was a good one. Buy yourself a Hostess cupcake and enjoy it for all of us. 30 years is a good while.

I didn't get to fish yesterday, babysitting one of my grandson's. Wanted to tie something yesterday but couldn't decide what I wanted to do so took a long walk, ended up doing 13,000 steps yesterday but didn't tie anything. I plan on fishing this morning before the rain rolls through. Happy Birthday Tim, hope you have a great one.

My portable clamp vise is probably wondering why I bought it. Never gathering any stock of tying tools and supplies. I need to change my ways and start gathering some information, tools and material stock. The enjoyment and creative quality works I see of our tying members is impressive. Hold it! End of the year, New Years coming. Is this starting to sound like some kind of resolution? Maybe? We’ll see, I kinda hope so.
