I went behind Diamondhead this morning with the Tin boat as the F250 is there, I brought the boat along. Well after checking the F250 for more emulsion I launched and headed straight up to the top of Rotten Bayou. Well its Salty all the way. I have never seen it salty like this in 33 years. Anyway I caught Gar, 'Gills, Bass, and Redfish. I caught fish but not a Crappie. Just wondering if the Skunk counts under the circumstances.

My Crappie Brothers, I knew you would have my back. I should have brought dead shrimp and a popping cork for I saw tailing Reds the whole way.
I could stand some of those!
Speaking of wanting some of those Reds we needed this shot of Saltwater bad. The growth of grasses in the marsh from so much freshwater was choking little bayous. The Bass I like to eat have a steady diet of Blue Crabs and Shrimp. For the last 5 years only Crawfish, you can taste the difference in the fish. More muddy like farm Catfish. Hopefully some rains will start soon. We went from the Wettest Year on record to the Driest Year on record in 2 years.Quote:

went out of my way to not hit a big pretty skunk the other night .the first thing that I thought was that will have a long lasting smell for sure ....:RoflQuote:

I generally use the common sense approach to everything.
So a guy that owns minnow ponds taught me a trick years ago with minnows. Add about a teaspoon of salt to your minnows it will keep them alive longer and they will be much more active. Ok great advice it works 100% of the time. But me being me I tried less and noticed they didn’t stay as active. Then I tried more and here’s where it got interesting. Two teaspoons they got sluggish. Three teaspoons they didn’t move around hardly at all. Of course we are talking minnows. So I am thinking the same occurs with our freshwater fish. I will leave the true answer to smarter guys than me.
Oh another thing the minnow guy taught me years ago, when cleaning a minnow bucket or container you keep your minnows in wash and clean it with pure table salt. It will clean it and it will remove slime or even where you have had minnows die on you. Since doing this I rarely have a dead minnow when using them. Of course I always put a frozen water bottle in mine to in the heat of the summer.

I think the first is the smallest Choctaw Bass ever. Choctaws are a sub species from Mobile River to Pearl River. I need to find the article about them and post it up here somewhere.
