Just struggling to git it all done is me ....

man are we on the go , family gatherings ,birthday parties, hunting , ketchn fish and the list seems never ending :banghead
the good news is I pitstop when I can and ketch a few in my travels .....:highfive
hit a chain of ponds sunday for some bluegill action and a dock on monday for some crappie action and hit a hog with a 30 06 Saturday before the family party ....:yikes
can't seem to go fast enough is me , but am sure trying ...
stay tuned because as you well know by now ....
KABOOM is the word :highfive
only the hog went in the ice chest , the fish all went free ....
ranchero beans done the actual way you do them included .....

that ceramic pot was interesting , the handles never got hot and the beans were just rolling inside there from the heat down below ....
them beans were tasty and not very spicy either , go figure ....

I'd added more peppers then....I like spicy..lol

Only place to shoot a hog. Well done. I hit one high with my '06 and the bullet went up the crown peeling hide to the skull but didn't penetrate. Big Russian Boar, Black, Fat, right out of the marsh here. He flopped around like the bullet went in but I saw the hide fly, knew it was a scratch shot. 165gr Ballistic Tip, hand loaded to 2900 with some IMR 4350. Hot, maybe too hot. Back then BT's were new, if they weren't really Cookin' they didn't expand well. Flew well all day but didn't expand. I load Accubonds now, they do it all.

My hog killing gun was a 17WSM. The ranch owner did not allow centerfire rifles on the property due to his herd of cows. I learned quickly to earhole them if you didn't want them running off. I had to pass on alot of shots because those critters seldom sit still. I had free access to land so I could not complain. I really miss those days.

Hogs can take some serious lead , one customer I guided for back when, shot a full AR 223 clip into a herd of em at under 40 yards and only retrieved one lil 5 lber….:yikes
Said he brain panned several and everyone of them hit the dirt and bounced back up like nothing happened…..tough as nails once they hit about 100 lbs. for sure
