Opens here in Ohio as well. I will be after tree rats as that season opens as well Friday.
I have plans to be in the woods Saturday morning. Dove hunting is lots of fun just can't do it anymore cause my shoulders. Good luck to all

I’ll be on Cumberland Wednesday, Friday & Sunday nights. Looking for fish for our classic here in a month.
Would love to be out there. Haven't been on a good dove hunt in twenty years. Good hunting, wishing you lots of low flying birds!!
I’d love to, but unfortunately don’t know anyone in eastern ky with a dove field

There should be some public fields in your area ... check the map above. That's what we hunt every year.
I used to live for Sept 1. We would have different fields to shoot every day for the first 2 weeks of the season. I don't care for them but my dad, mom, father in law loved them. They died off. I shot for a couple more years and then quit. I was giving them away or cleaning them and putting in the freezer only to be thrown out later on. I hated to take the life of something just for sport. Sporting Clays provide all the sport I need these days. I certainly don't have a problem with other people shooting them. But for me, it was time to give it up. i miss it, and the comaradre that comes with it. Many shoots are a social event. Keep your head down and swing dummy swing.
Well, we really thought it was gonna be gangbusters when we got to the field at 9AM and saw probably 200 Dove flying around the field. Then 11AM comes & at 11:10AM I bust a bird down. Then it was like after 4PM before more than a few singles flew thru where we were stationed. There were so many people there that any bird that came within range was shot at by at least 3-4 people, many shooting 2-3 times at the bird. I saw at least three times where a bird went down & more than one person went out to retrieve it. Happened to me twice. I gave my one bird away.
I should have known it was going to be like that, when we first arrived. There was already about 30 vehicles in the parking area when we got there at 9AM. That's not to mention that when I went to park my truck I picked a spot between two other vehicles ... and the truck went into a big hole. Luckily this truck is 4WD & I managed to back it out of the hole. :woohoo
The only saving grace for this fiasco was that there were some guys from TLC Outfitters that set up a big grill & served breakfast & lunch for free, gave away a koozie to anyone that wanted one, and let us sign up for a Cabela's gift card (for our name & email addy).
When we went to grab a burger for lunch, the vehicle numbers had swollen to around 50 or more, which lent to the overcrowded situation mentioned before.
But, as the saying goes .... "it is what it is" :fingerdance
Public dove hunting fields definitely tend to get way over crowded for sure.
I tend to avoid opening weekend on public land in the MS delta. It's always packed on any given public field. And usually the heat and mosquitoes are terrible. Got really mean skeeters over near the river, they will bite through your clothes even doused in repellent. I like to wait for weekday mornings with temps in the low to mid 60s. Opening weekend is just a big event for outdoors-man and women a like, more of a social gathering and welcoming in the fall to come. Always had a good time and never met any people that were unfriendly at these events. Just a bunch of smiles and a good folks.
That was awesome for the outfitter to serve breakfast, great marketing and really gives meaning to "pressing the flesh"... politicin' at it's finest! :cheers2
I’’m in Houston, TX. seeing my new Grandson. I got out yesterday for a little white wing dove shoot[emoji16]. My son and I brought 28. Home, they’re a little bigger than a morning dove. Made a few smoked poppers last night.
