Broke a favorite rod? Here's a way to repair it
Some rods I've had for over 25 years that have caught 100's of fish. Seeing as how I break at least 4 rod per year, I figured out a way to make them good as new.
1. make sure the two ends are not spintered above and below the break too much.
2. find a nail thin enough to fit both blank holes as close in diameter as possible.
3. Coat with Gorilla Super Glue 1/2 of the nail which should be at least 1" into the hole of one end.
4. when that hardens inside the blank, glue the other half of the nail and insert into the other blank hole.
5. coat the blanks all the way around the blank and wrap 10 lb test braided line around it starting below and working past the break to the other part. Make sure the wrap is tight and close together.
This ultralight rod casts and flexes as good as new.
Here's what it looks like when done:
The other suggestion allows you to have a hook holder near the handle using a bit of wire and Gorilla tape to hold it.
