Litewire Hooks - Curtis I believe is still a sponsor on this website. Please delete if I've broken any rules. You can bend them back a time or two, depending on how far it got bent.
Jigs with a VMC 9147.
I poured XX Fine Mustads in my jigheads for that purpose but found you lost fish trying to swing them in the boat. Ketchn posted something about using a smaller hook which is what I did. Using #4 & #6 Matzou Sickle Hooks I swing most fish in if I can't see the jig. The Mustad hooks can be re-bent numerous times, they do work well as designed just net your fish.
Regular 570 eagle claws can be bent out of snags with 6-10lb line usually. And you wont lose big fish on them like I have with the mustads.
Sickle hooks seem to be stronger, so i would avoid those.
Talking #4 here, once you get to #2/1 and then #1/0-2/0 the diameters change and they become much stronger

I have good luck bending my sickle hook Arkie and Eagle Claw (Wal-Mart) hooks when using 8 lb test. Anything less they usually snap the line

I pull Sickles out with 8 pound braid bend them back into shape until I feel they get brittle and then I tie on a new one. Shooting docks causes lots of snags.
more often than not ,once compromised , they are trash no matter the brand , but that said I bend a few back myself from time to time , some bend lots easier than others for sure and some just bend out really easy after a re bending episode as well ...
This video is interesting. I plan to give it a try.

Good price on the Grizzly Jigs.
Thanks
I’ve just about straightened and re-bent just about every hook. Some more than others. Seems lighter the hook the more I have to re-bend. Takes no more than 10 seconds to re-tie.
Bronze hooks no matter what brand will bend easier than black nickle, gold or red hooks. I use light line and rarely get my jig back when snagged so they get replaced on a regular basis.
I'll give them a bend or two but more than that I replace. Just my luck to hook a good fish and it come off due to a worn out and weak hook.
I tried bending hooks, like in THIS VIDEO.
Although I didn’t catch many fish it worked very well for me. Didn’t catch any giants though. I plan to continue pre-bending the hooks until I find that heavy fish will get off because of weakened hooks.
Great info, thanks for sharing.

I get them in the hundred package. All I use anymore
Timely post, I have been looking for some 1/32 size #6 litewire hook jig heads. Seems all I can find is size #4 & 2 hooks in lite wires.
Use them and Bend them all till they break or so deformed I can't get close to the original shape. All sickle hooks seem way better to me to bend and break way less.
The red sickle hooks I have bend very easy, I have to bend them back after just about every fish I catch. The black ones I have don’t bend as easily.
A friend who has passed away used to take a lighter and heat the bend in the hook to take the temper out.
I have an exclusive on these eagle claw x lite wire hooks they are awesome they are super sharp and penetrate well and will usually straighten out on 6lb test and have never had one break.

Save your money and buy a Bic lighter.
I've been heating the bend of my hooks for years, just hit them for a few seconds. Once you get snagged just take a pair of pliers and put the bend back in ( make sure you don't close the barb) and fish on. I can use the same jig/hook all day in heavy brush and catch 1-2lb fish. Try it, it doesn't cost anything.
