I would love to have one if I can get some others to help. Lynnhurst Resort would love to host it but that may be farther out of the way than some want to travel. Super nice folks and place. I’m open to suggestions and volunteers.

I vote for lynnhurst and I’ll do cobblers and skillet taters
If interest is made - I will post a bring list a month or so before ...
Last year we opted for burgers and brats instead of fish and it seemed to be way less mess ...

Me n Lil Darlin are in all the way.
I'd be in... Terry Pool aka wiskers is retiring I'm sure he would help.
I will be there if I can. It will be closer to that time before I’d know for sure

M R DUX, Wherever you decide to have the Shindig keep all events as close together as possible. People from other areas that come will appreciate not having to run from one place to another when they don't know their way around the area. JMO
Any idea when you were thinking as of a date ???

Hoping some others chime in on this, especially those who used to be in charge.
I love October fishing here so first weekend in October would be my choice.

First weekend works for us!
First weekend would be fine. Hope the old fashioned ice cream maker makes another appearance!
That was some awesome ice cream!

Myself and Billbob would vote for the whole event happening at Lynnhurst Resort, Great place crooked road and all!
I'm working with Lynnhurst Resort to get special rates for Crappie.com members. If you aren't a member but would like to go to the Shindig, now is the time to get off your butt and register as a member. Lynnhurst now has a large tent next to the boat ramp for events like ours.
Lynnhurst Family Resort on Kentucky Lake
All in for Lynnhurst as the event host!
My brothers and I normally don't come back down until the 1st week of November, but we may have to come earlier for the shindig.
There is a family event the 1st weekend of October that will be booking the entire resort. I just got this word this afternoon. We will need to move our date to the 2nd weekend, October 12-15.
Here are the Crappie.Com Special rates:
Motel rooms, kitchen or no kitchen
$70 per night
Cabins and Condos, two bedrooms— $150 per night
Reservations must be made by phone for these rates. Mention Crappie.Com Special
270-436-2345
Questions need to be addressed to Dennis.
The ice cream freezer will be available.
Ramp and parking are no problem.
We will be doing burgers, brats, and fixings on Saturday afternoon. For out of town guests, we will have locals with boats who will get you out on the lake. Ky fishing license is required for Blood River.

How far is Lynnhurst from Big Bear?
30 miles fastest route on Google Maps
Are there any plans for a small friendly tournament at this years shindig?
Haven’t heard of any. Would you like to get involved? You can’t bring the shock boat.

Haha, no worries. Our nets work much better than the shock boat for crappie anyway.
Doesn't have to be part of the shindig, but I would be interested in getting my hands on some larger crappie during late october/early november. Trapnets tend to be biased towards smaller fish so we like to supplement with some larger fish caught from other sources to get a better estimate of the growth patterns. I know a few years ago we did that at the shindig fruit jar tournament so I thought I'd check to see if it was happening again.
Several of us will be fishing the days prior to the Shindig and that Saturday. How do the fish need to be kept and can you be reached by your cell phone? I want to invite the KY F&W crew to the meal and to talk afterwards about the Asian carp program and the status of KY and Barkley lakes.
Appreciate the invite, and we would be happy to provide a brief update on the carp program and the crappie outlook for Kentucky and Barkley Lakes. We will probably skip the formal powerpoint presentation this year and keep it shorter and more informal. I am fully expecting some tough questions about livescope, so we will attempt to answer whatever questions anyone has.
As for the fish, they can be frozen, kept in the fridge, or simply kept on ice (if its only going to be a few days). We would need 4 things (1) the location, just listing the embayment is specific enough but this would need to be recorded for each batch of fish, for example you might include a small note simply saying "Blood River" in a ziplock bag which is kept in a trash bag with the fish carcasses from that location, (2) the species, so leaving at least one side of the skin or the dorsal spines attached, (3) the total length, so the tail must still be attached, (4) the fishes head, since that is where the otoliths are located.
Alternatively, if no one wants to mess with storing the fish carcasses until we show up on saturday, then we can come and pick them up from lynnhurst each day. If thats the case, my work cell is 270 206 2334, so you can send me a text letting me know you have some fish for us.
