I carry multiple 7 foot one pc. rods in mine and to be sure even with 255,000 plus miles it will flat out pull the house down , we actually own 2 of them ( my wife's 4x4 truck is a duplicate but with a 3.8 and 9 speed auto 2021 ) , much easier to get around in than a full size and will perform like a big truck when asked to do so ...
gas mileage is similar to big trucks though and the pre 2019 versions are the ticket ...mine has the big ole 4.0 v-6 puts close to 300 ponies to ground and with the 5 speed auto she will pull quite well , dragged my 38 foot house trailer to our place with mine and lots of boats and trailers and barrels of concrete and etc .....
my buds big ole v8 ford won't pull any more than my lil "baby" truck .....:Rofl
I love my Nissan Frontier 4x4 4 door 2010 year model ....
wife's version of this model truck actually makes more horsepower than mine , but don't think it has the low end torque to tow heavy stuff , never tried to with it as of yet ...:highfive
7 foot rods are no problem for my quad cab Tacoma
The Nissan Frontier can be equipped with a 6’ bed in both King Cab and Crew Cabs.
i was looking at the 2023 Colorado. with 4 doors and the 310hp turbo.

I can carry 8’ rods running diagonally in my 4 door 2012 Canyon. That’s about max inside though.
I drive a 2006 Toyota Tundra Access Cab and can sit a 7' rod in the passenger side floorboard and it doesn't touch the back window when run diagonally between the front seats. I don't carry my rods in the bed of the truck, nor do I "leave them" in the truck (bed or cab) between trips.

I have a 2019 Nissan Frontier. I purchased it used right before COVID hit and the prices went thru the roof. I needed a truck to tow a 17ft bass boat and had narrowed it down to the Frontier or the Tundra. I went with the Frontier simply because it was 4k cheaper than the Tacoma. The interior in my truck is pretty outdated compared to the others but that did not matter much to me. This is my third Frontier but the first one with a V6. I have been very happy with it.
I had a Tacoma, good little truck but not comfortable. I am on my 2nd Ridgeline 4wd. comfort for an old man, and get 27mpg hwy. Pulls my boats with ease. Engine 280hp v6. Plenty of power for shopping at walmart. Did I mention comfort?
funny you mentioned that , i sat in lots of Tacomas from about 2000 and on and yes sir , not much in the comfort dept.
wondered about the ridgeline several times , we actually saw one on the highway the other day and discussed it .
One fella I asked at a gas station said his wasnt much in the power dept. My mechanic had this reply to that statement though , it has the same drive train as the honda minivan ,so it should be pretty strong ?
the only drawback is we need 4 wheel drive (not want) and they dont make it in 4wheel drive from what the honda place told me ?
this is what I have figured out , apparently the fella at the gas station who said he loved his , and said ,but it wasnt all that powerful must have v 8 expectations , we looked at one at the honda place that was just about a fine looking vehicle back in Jan. told me wife it isnt that expensive ,but no 4 wheel drive .....a sales person came up while we were looking and put a sold sign on it :Rofl
Not sure if your looking new or used. If you're looking used and looking for reliability Toyota Tundra 2021 or older. As 2021 was the last year Toyota made the v8 and switched to 6cly twin turbos. But you will suffer at the pumps with bad gas mileage with the Tundra. But the reliability is hard to beat. I had an 2004 tundra with 210,000 miles before i sold it. It was not in the shop once. If your looking at new vehicle. Check out the Chevy and Gmc 1500 3.0 liter 6cyl baby turbo diesel. People are reporting 30mpg highway and 16mpg towing.
I had and order in for a new 2023 Tundra but canceled after they couldn't fulfill the order after 9 months. I'm glad they didn't it gave me more time to research and decided to go 3.0 liter 6cly baby diesel. I've been waiting 3 months for the chevy so far.
This thread reminds me of that song..
Shame no pride in Merica' built products!
Turning Japanese [Official video] - The Vapors (HD/HQ) - YouTube
Actually, the Japanese products mentioned are built by Americans in plants in the US for the US market, although the parent companies are in Japan. In fact this afternoon, I drove my kids around to lessons and then home with one of our test Nissan Frontiers built from our plant in Canton, MS testing something new to help R&D and plant processes. My personal vehicle is a Titan (also built in Canton, MS).
Unlucky man, I've worked at the Canton plant as a sub. Familar with the race track? Its out back where all new vehicles are abused in short order. No matter how you slice it the majority of proceeds go overseas. I was just joking but we always get a live one..
test drove about everything mid sized back when and the frontier i currently drive with 250 000 plus miles smoked the entire bunch of them , no matter what the emblem on the grill said or the reviews , this is fact ....
was a devout chevy fan for most of my life , started in a 57 pick up and last one was a rare GMC GT model , the GMC was just about all that too ....man did that thing ride nice and go fast .....and a serious looker as well ....
that quasar blue bumper to bumper and the GT package with the stuff some fellas wife had put on it made it all kinds of rock and roll ....to be VERY sure ....but that was back when in the mid 90z, sure was a nice one .....:highfive
It is a pretty nice truck. I’m used to driving a Titan or Titan XD, so it takes me a little adjusting to the smaller cab. Power wise, it’s fine for pulling my boat or most trailers that I’d pull. It is definitely easier to park than a Titan XD for daily driving.
Pre 2019 is a man’s truck , no matter the cab size , the 2021 is still the same body style and fast , but the 9 speed puts the ponies down a bit too smooth for me and the low end torque of the 4.0 with 5 speed is very much in line with a v8 powered truck …
The 2023 new body style and up have a 13 speed automatic transmission is what I think I remember and does not get bunches of praise….
Hear tell it’s a highway ride and also didn’t perform well off road …..
My Honda has an option switch which allows you to put it in 4 wheel drive if need be. It automatically disconnects 4WD above 20mph. I actually use 4WD sometimes. Handy for hauling deer out of muddy fields. Im not much into muddin'. Have to pay somebody to clean up and somebodies are hard to find. Most 4wd trucks around here never get muddy.
Try not to muddy mine up to bad. If the need arises I don't mind. I grew out of play in the mud phase in my 20's
What model year is your Honda Tom?
All the new ones I have seen on line say they are AWD, which I took to mean the All Wheel Drive was engaged all the time.
Sent from my SM-T500 using Crappie.com mobile app
2017. There is a process to put it in 4wd. mine say awd too.
Ridgeline runs frontwheel drive only but it will engage awd if the wheels slip at a different rotation than others. YES. It does have a transfer case, and 4wd is not hard locked like a standard 4wd. Only dumb butts get their 4wd stuck. ha
i have had mine in some nasty bean and corn fields. never stuck.
2019 Frontier here too. Great truck and built like a rock. I carry 7 footers in my cab across the passenger seat all the time. Check CarComplaints.com for great comparison on all truck models. That's where I started when I bought mine.
