what are some good ethier jigging or dock shooting crappie rods?
There's a ton of them out there ...
I like a 6' to 6.5' spinning rod with a fast to very fast action tip for dock shooting (I'd use my 6.5' ESP PowerLite for dock shooting, but don't fish lakes with stationary docks anymore).
I don't "vertical jig" per se .... but, when Livescope flippin' I do sometimes jig vertically ... I'm usually using my 12' BnM Diamond Series rod with a double jig rig, or my 8' Diamond Series rod with a single jig. But, I'm just as likely to use my 10' Huckabee Dipping rod with a single jig.
I mention these particular rods, because they're the ones I have ... not because I've compared them against all other brands available.
what size reel
Huckabee rods by Power Crappie are some of the best . I like the light weight 11.5' Stryker.
Whatever size reel will balance the outfit on my outstretched finger at the front end of the handle. "One size fits all" does not work in these circumstances. Not all reels in the same "series" of different brands (100/1000 - 200/2000 - etc.) will weigh the same.
Any outfit you're going to hold in your hand & "jig" with, or cast with (numerous times or over an extended period of time) needs to be "balanced" .... or you're going to be putting strain on your wrist/forearm and be uncomfortable using it.
I can tell you what reels I currently have on each of those rods, but some of those reels are no longer in production (and some I've tried to find out their weight, so as to find a alternative reel to use, but have failed in that attempt).
what is a good brand of reels
Outlaw rods are NICE
Shimano fx series that sells at walmart for 20 bucks are good little reels for crappie fishing. I have a bunch of them in the 2500 size & they've been great.
Man you can open a can of worms here, they are so many and everyone has got there favorite.
Hard to beat B&M Dock Shooter
Tons of good rods out there. You will get some good recommendations. I’m a U/L stream fishing guy so can’t help you much. Good luck with your search!

the list is endless , some of the cheapest are the stuff , some not so much , if I only listed just what I have it would take me a while to do so , you probably just need to explore a tackle shop and feel a few.
one mans preferred stick and winding device is not always what fits the next .
some swear by this , some swear by that , some swear just because they think it sounds cool too ....just saying :Rofl
Can't add much to what has been said already. But I will say this, The price on a rod or reel don't make it great. It's performance by the users standards does. What's great for person A is garbage for person C. Just sayin'.
that quote is spot on about the price,,, my son bought me a few high end crappie rods over the last 2 years, i like to fish with jigs, i keep trying some of the rods from the big names here, but i have yet to find a rod as sensitive as the 6'6" ACC rod with Berkley nanofil line and a short fluorocarbon leader.

thanks for all the help guys now to narrow down to 2. okay looks like BnM dock shooter and BnM diamond series8footer
Both of those will serve you well. I'm test driving a Shimano Nasci while I'm waiting my Pflueger Supreme xt to be repaired. I prefer reels one size up from the smallest. Shimano's is the 1000 model. There will likely come a time when you notice a performance difference in one piece rods over a two piece.

I use BnM pro 50 and pro 100s on my TCB Leland rods, my diamond series jig pole and my BnM Russ Bailey Rods.
might want to peak at the ABU Vigilante before you buy a rod, the little red one is a one pc. and to be sure a REALLY hardcore short stick for mid $ 30 greenbacks .....will hold its own against the big name stuff for sure .....bad to the bone gear and WAY pretty too ....:Rofl
Since I’m a Louisiana Boy, I am considering a Salter’s Jig Pole combo with their tape on reel. Does anyone have opinions on these? I haven’t had a chance to hold one yet.
