Last week our lake record at San Vicente lake was broken with a 4.2 lb red ear,
i would think the average is about 1 lb.

Welcome to the forum from Southwest Missouri. Not sure where you fishin' at, but a member used to fish lake Perris right regular. Sure do have some hugen' out there for sure. Isn't that the lake where the nuclear waste overflows into it?:biggrin 1lb average is phenomenal. Take advantage of that resource, it is special.

Perris is a fantastic lake, it's in riverside county, I'm in San Diego about 60 miles south.
I've always dreamed of fishing the southern lakes with there beauty.
California (WAS) a sportsmens paradise, very diverse terrain.
But it's a sport no longer attractive to the younger guys and gals.
As the old timers pass along, the lakes are empty.
Fishing license sales show this.
If your ever out here, I'll take ya out for the day.
