Bull bluegill were sitting just outside of the beds.
They were making 20 foot runs ripping drag after sinking the float.
Filled the 3 gallon bucket full.
Wax worm tipped hair jig under a trout magnet float. Big fun.

That’s a great batch of fish but I’d have to have a chair to get em ready for dinner. Super sized!
Bluegill like that are hard on a bubba blade. Ribs will dull a blade quick. Crappie are much more delicate compared.

What state were you fishing?
Indiana.
My family and I just finished eating them. Didn’t have any pre mix fish fry left, we use Zaterains or Andy’s, so used jiffy cornbread mix with some extra seasoning. Bluegill no doubt is my favorite fish to eat. Much denser than crappie.
