Trolling Batteries??

Right now I'm running 24 volts on my 80 lb Ultrex with the 2 Interstate 27 series deep cycle batteries that can with my new Ranger 188P. I like to search with my Ultrex running pretty high on 7 to 10 speed. It doesn't take but a couple hours and this zaps 'em pretty good. Still enough left to fish. I was wondering what I should upgrade too. Would a 29 series deep cycle get the job done? I have a 100 AH Lithium on my electronics but not sure I want to spend the big bucks just yet to go lithium on the trolling batteries.

I've ran the everstart group 29 deep cycles from walmart for years now & they have always done great for me. I've had one set go 8 years but i know that is way more than anyone should expect them to last & i fished pretty hard then too.

Lithiums are your best choice,they are high but worth it.

I have had some good service life from the Everstart Max batteries. That being said I believe lithium is definitely the way to go

After the initial sticker shock, you will not regret the upgrade to Lithium. Takes the worry away and gives you power all day long.

If not wanting to spend money on lithium I would go with two group 31s.

I have the same 80# ultrex on an 18' fiberglass boat. I can pull crank baits at 1.8 to 2.2 mph all day long. I run the US batteries. US31DCXC2 they are great batteries.

That being said once those die I will be going lithium as well. Hopefully by then the prices will be a bit cheaper.

If you are having to run your moor almost wide open, I would seriously consider going all the way with a 36 volt motor and a single 36 volt lithium battery. I'm running an Ultrex with a Skinny Water Marine 36v100A lithium. My hull weighs 4000 pounds. Add all my gear and clients, it's pulling a load! I can get 7 hours of 6-10 speed constant running before my battery gets less than 10%. Calm winds and it will run 10+ hours. When I replaced 3 Trojan 1275 golf cart batteries and two Minnkota Precision chargers with my two 12v100a lithium batteries, chargers, and the 70 pound 36v100a, I saved over 300 pounds of weight.

I have had 2 27 AGM batteries for quite a while on an 18 foot alumacraft and I don't remember draining them in a day.

price would be between lead and lithium.

So just got a new Ranger vs1782 that had two interstate 27 for 80# Ulterra. I long line troll so my trolling motor runs 90% of the time during the day. i stay between 3-5 on the remote most of the day. after 7 hours, im down to 25% which makes me nervous. I added two Dakota 54 amp Lithium and wired in a switch so that i can change over midday if needed. Boat has plenty of room in middle of boat 4 the additional batteries. Working great.
You need to research Minn Kota issues with running over 8.5 for extended periods using lithium though

That's what my Ranger188P came with also was 2 27 series Interstate deep cycle batteries. In a normal day of fishing I'm sure they are adequate. But I demand a lot out of my Ultrex, running on 7 mostly and occasionally up to wide open. I have the trolling motors for braking so I can get it shut down pretty quickly when I see something I want to fish for. I like to cover water quickly when moving between fish structures also.

Early Spring I needed 2 new TM batteries. Was tired of buying new batteries every 18-24mo. I bought 2 Impulse Lithium 12v100ah batteries. You cannot drain them in a day of hard fishing. I am running a 188 w Ultrex. Reason I bought Impulse was their 10 warranty. Pay lil xtra and get the Bluetooth batteries

what's the need for Bluetooth ?

In the past I've had good luck with group 27 Everstarts from Wally world, the batteries currently in my boat came from Advance Auto parts and they hold up well. I just recently replaced my 80# Fortrex with a Lowrance Ghost, it's 97# on 24V. With the brushless motor the batteries last a lot longer.

Class 31 AGM's, or lithiums and you'll never worry about running out of battery again[emoji106]

You can moniter battery health,pretty neat.You can also turn everythig on and it will tell you how long they will last with everything powered up.We sell alot of the ionics,but i own both the ionic and impulse lithium.I personally like the ionic app better than the impulse,i need to do screen shots and reviews on both one of these days.

I use the Everstart Maxx Marines from Walmart on my Ultrex. I run a Bass Cat and I have no fear of running my batteries down on a day of longlining. During my days longlining I never shut the trolling motor off.

Batteries like jig poles are a matter of choice. With 5 batteries, I chose not to stay with what works
