I've noticed with livescope, sometimes the fish will sprint 20'+ away to grab the lure on the fall.
And then sometimes you'll watch them follow and stare at the lure, and nothing you can seem to do will make them bite.
What's your go to jigging technique for enticing them to bite when they're inches away and just staring at it?
Sometimes I will get bit if I slowly start pulling my jig towards the surface, but I don't have a sure fire way to make them bite. Livescope is nice, but I've found that just because I can see them, doesn't mean I can get them to bite

I don't have live scope. Fishing from the bank still so don't know if they are looking at it, or even near it. However, If they aren't taking it, I will sometimes pop a cork,(bounce the bobber in place), or just move it real slow a bit seems to help. Using the bobber, you are essentially vertical jigging
there is something that triggers them if they are looking and or following a jig , often times when I LS with buds it seems if it stops moving away from them they lose interest ? have seen some follow jigs for more than 10 feet before they took it and if it stopped moving they backed off it and or just stayed there looking .
whatever the case may be , change things up and don't be afraid to get a bit crazy with it , there are times if it dances like a drunken clown they hammer ....
when I dont get bit and am just free style jigging with no electronics , i try all different kinds of things until I zero in on what the ticket might be .
I don’t think there’s a sure fire way to make them bite but the most consistent way for me is staying above them and trying to take it away from them. Sometimes it’s a fast reel keeping it away and other times it’s just enough to keep it above them. Sometimes when they are eating good they swoop under the bait and follow it and it gets bit 99% of the time when I see that. When they are just leisurely following it, they almost never hit and just spook off the boat. The only constant for me is if I let it get under them you can kiss them goodbye.

Going to a more aggressive approach can work looking for that reaction bite not giving them the chance to get a good look at the bait, don`t give them that opportunity. Try switching up crankbait, Beetle spin, jigging spoon.
Just had a day like that about a week ago except Walleyes pitching jig and plastics nary a bite switched up to basically a bigger Beetle spin bait, they were happy with it and so was I largest 26 inches, water temp 41 and prespawn, water levels 6 feet high on the Mississippi.
I have never found anything repeatable. Sometimes just holding it perfectly still works, sometimes taking it away slowly works.
Best move is to reel your jig up all the way and go find a bunch that will bite without coaxing.

When I see them following the jig on my Livescope and not biting, adding slabsauce helps entice them.
One of my favorites is to drop the rod tip a half an inch, or maybe an inch, and return it to where it started. Make the move , count two, thump, set the hook.
One thing I've learned, while using Livescope, is that your rod tip movement distance is NOT always equal to the distance your jigs will move. I've "jiggled" my rod tip what I thought was about 6" ... then watched my jigs jump over 3ft on the screen grid. :yikes
I normally try to just let the jigs glide above the fish without adding any "action" and that normally elicits a bite "IF" the fish is actively feeding. I've also found that a little "jiggling" of the rod tip (just enough to make the jigs "dance" a little) can turn fish back towards the jigs or even make them commit when they're just sitting there "staring at it".
I've seen color changes & size changes & body style/actions make a difference .... but what I've not seen is ONE particular "anything" be the "always works" scenario. Sometimes nothing works & other times anything works. :twocents

I had to scrimp and scrape to afford a Garmin Striker 7CV - not that it helps me when I'm bank fishing.
Far as jigging the lure, I just give very light twitches on semi-slack line when bobber fishing - maybe 1"-2" movement of the rod tip...whether it does anything is up in the air, but I do get bites
It gets to see so many crappies down by some kind of structure and they will only follow my bait, sometimes catching only 1 or 2 then the spook a little and will not bite at all then. I just leave and come back later.

I explain my Live Scope fishing to my friends that have never done it as "THE MOST REWARDING FISHING AT TIMES AND AS THE MOST FRUSTRATING FISHING OTHER TIMES!!" Some days they just dont want to play, PERIOD. They follow but just dont bite. To know there are quality fish 12 feet below you and they won't take anything you present them can drive you nuts if you let it. Its hard to do but if they dont want to play that day go try another spot or just put it on the trailer and lick your wounds at home.. One consolation is that if they didn't take your bait they very likely will not take someone else's on that day. Thus they will be there the next time you LOOK IN ON THEM.
Well I don't use any electronics whatsoever unless you count my cellphone. Maybe that is why I don't have the patience a lot of you have because I don't know if the fish are there. Just take an educated guess after learning the water.
I work the areas I know as carefully as I can. I try different techniques, different depths and different baits. If I get no bites I move on to hopefully find less finicky fish or maybe just find fish at all. Some days I even need to explore new likely looking places. It's all good. Even if I don't catch a thing it is time on the water with a rod and reel.
