Thanks all, I'm a saltwater fishing guy, just trying to do something different. Used to catch crappie when I was a kid and trying to do some this year. In my area, we have Lake Corpus Christi, Choke Canyon and Coleto Creek. Went to Choke Canyon back in January - nada. Went to Coleto twice with minnows and jigs, just caught undersize bass and a few nice cats. Really trying to tune into the crappie fishing. Someone at the ramp told me I needed Livescope, so maybe that's in order when I can build up the funds. We really like Coleto Creek, nice lake and facilties, pretty water, not as crowded. Anyone have tips for Coleto? thanks.
Welcome from Southwest Missouri, Is live scope necassary to find crappie, No sir it's not, A fishfinder, probably. Find the bait minnows,(Shad), find the structure, find the crappie. Find baitfish and structure together, it's usually Jackpot... Now this is just my opinion. Good luck on your quest, and please keep us posted.
