Cost of tying materials

They are going through the roof. I'm fairly well stocked on almost everything but every now and then there comes a time when I'm out of something I need to fill an order. I needed a light gray bucktail and a red bucktail for an order so ran over to Feathercraft to pick them up. I was shocked when I saw the price for a bucktail is now 11.99, last year it was 6.99. With tax two bucktail was over $26. Had to inform customer the price for his jigs were going up and he cut 20 jigs off his order. Reflecting back on the good ol days when a kip tail or bucktail for under $2. Being a senior citizen I'm really missing the good ol days now. Only way to feel better is to go fishing, hope they cooperate.

Everything is getting more expensive. Like you I'm glad I'm stocked pretty good. With any luck the prices go back down some.

Prices for most things are outrageous lately. $27 for 3 bags of dog treats. They are worth it, but they eat better than I do:Rofl

They must eat really good then. I've seen some of your eats!

Those eats you see are once or twice a week most times unless I take some days off

I just ordered 6 13/0 catfish hooks for a buddy and they were $12.50 per hook.certainly ridiculous. And they charge me shipping.

I grew up on butter and sugar sandwiches and government bologna , peanut butter, and cheese. I will never complain about how much fishing supplies cost.

Thankfully I'm pretty well stocked with everything!! But I've looked at some stuff when I'm out and it's crazy!!Attachment 450267 These are 38 gallon storage bins and it's not all of them.

It is absolutely ridiculous! A decent saddle hackle is now near $90! It was $50 a couple years ago. I looked at bucktail prices and said no way, im making due with what I have for a while.

MCG1 I try not to complain and no one held a gun to my head to buy those. I just think they are taking advantage of us.

Getting hit hard on everything you buy lately

It would have been nice if it would have been a big buck tail, but it was small with more natural brown than lt. gray. I was tying 3/32 with a #2 sickle hook and only got 23 of the 35 made when I ran out. Remembered I had some white tails in the closet so pulled one out and dyed it myself and finished it the next day. Should have done that first.

Jungle,,, ever shop with chuckanddebs.com. They tend to have bucktail alittle cheaper it seems,,,you could also try using foxtail,,, get a lot more for your money and it ties a lot easier,,, foxtail comes in dyed colors as well,,,I bought some Kraft glue with the brush applicator yesterday at Amazon and 6 bottles was only like 15 buck which totally amazed me seeing Walgreens gets $6 each bottle,,,

Hey Jim, what kind of dye do you use. I dyed some a few years ago and they didn't seam briliant enought for me.

I had a roof put on my house Thursday. OUCH is the word.
30 squares. Top of the line everything.
I bought materials and hired installers.
Everything is ridiculous.
Even the pizzas I bought the installers for lunch. Lol [emoji23]

2022 truck I was looking at is now 10k more for 2023 edition. Price for everything is crazy now a days.

I used Cushing's Perfection dyes for the buck tail but also use food color dyes and unsweetened Koolaid, they all work. Adding vinegar helps prevent dye from washing out during rinse. Didn't have time to shop around and wanted to get the order finished so I could get paid and buy more Stardust paint. On the government cheese, I ate a lot of it back in the day and still think it was better than any store bought cheese. Next time you hit the Deli at the grocery store ask for a pound of government cheese and see what their response is.

Yes Bucktails have gone crazy, but I see Hareline has come out with some Petite Bucktails that the cost is a good bit less. The large Northern are really out of site and if I bough some today would have to price them at $11.50. That's crazy to me for sure!
