DOC fishing Rewarded
The middle of last week the perfect, mid-Florida weather forecast initiated an invitation to my long-time Dentist/friend, Carlos[CrappieFishinDMD] and his two boys. It's been about 5 years or so since our last outing as a group, although they've enjoyed our Crappiefests over the years, and Carlos/friends have joined me on Fresh/Saltwater trips. His youngest, Jason(13 yo), comes to our events to ONLY eat the fried CRAPPIE!:yikes:biggrin:highfive His oldest, CJ, is in college following his Dad's footsteps into Dentistry. Yesterday, Sunday, was our agreed upon Day o' Fun! Arrived @their house @Dark-o-thirty and got things squared-away-Attachment 450039 Then we were off to my second and last stop to get squared-away again with a wildcard ingredient to help our success= Square donuts!Attachment 450042
Routinely launched the boat/parkedAttachment 450043 and boarded the rig with my three guests. Now the youngest, Jason, was reluctant in leaving the comfort of his bed, but got "realigned" to get himself ready.:Rofl I had everything pre-planned (eg- seating, 1st fish(Jason), co-captain(CJ), net availability etc.) and commenced to long-lining 10 rods from 5 - 16'. Took about 15 minutes to get the SKUNK off with a nice 12" that was assigned to Jason. The day's feeding activity was only average with lots of idle-time between wakeup calls.:RoflAttachment 450044
Different areas, different colors/speeds were only marginal, but then things started changing. Beautiful Florida sunny skies w/slight 5 mph breeze yielded to sporadic cloud-cover. Couple doubles were enabled, everybody got to land/net some fish.Attachment 450045Attachment 450048Attachment 450049Attachment 450050Attachment 450056
Then it happens...the 16' r gets bit and Jason gets Called to DUTY! Biggest fish of the Day! on a 16' Rod!!Attachment 450058Attachment 450059 He also caught the 2nd largest!
Also included in the day's excitement for the crew was 4 GATORS and 3 MANATEES!
Back at the ramp, group pic on the agenda, I had Jason select/handle the 6 largest prisoners. The only part of this fabulously rewarding trip I regret, is NOT VIDEOING this comical 10 minutes! Apparently, Jason was under the mistaken impression that Crappie were cousins to the PIRANHA!!:yikesAttachment 450068Attachment 450069
This trip had the Doc in MY chair, My evaluation, My treatment, My prescription and hopefully, they had as an enjoyable as I was blessed with = TAKE A KID FISHIN'!!
This trip was Just what the Doctor ordered!:highfive
Thanks for Ridin'/Reelin'/Readin'/ROTFL

Good trip and well done mister. Carlos and the boys sure looked like they were having fun and boating some nice fish. Not the small boys I remember from the slabfests.

Awesome job getting out with friends and catching some. Thanks for sharing

Square donuts are the ticket. Looks like Thump Therapy will be included in the latest edition of Todays Dentistry. Taking a Kid fishing is so rewarding. Doug you are a great teacher and fun to fish with. Looking forward to sharing in your crappie fishing adventures here on the Florida Forum. Tight Lines.
