Hey guys does anyone have one of Canepole's legendary black boxes that allows you to use both iPilot and the foot pedal at the same time? Or even just the wiring diagram for said black box, I've done as much digging as I possibly can into the archives and unfortanetly alot of the photo links are now broken. Thanks for any and all info!

I hung up my soldering iron. All my info was on photobucket. I refused to pay them ransom money to retrieve my drawings and how to do's.
I don't blame you for refusing to cough up the cash. Thanks for the response and I guess I will see what I can come up with. I ordered my foot pedal and it will be here Tuesday then the tinkering begins.
Seems I remember someone (maybe even cane pole) posting a hand drawn wiring diagram of the magic box ...
Maybe some creative search dudes can dig this up from the crappie.com bygone threads ...

I believe the foot pedal will do everything but steer. The foot pedal uses bubble contact switches which will only carry a small amount of current. YOU could use a optic coupled 12v dual relay module to create a steering control. To do this, you would also need a double pole double throw switch to switch between the steering sources. This way, you could use one or the other by connecting the round plug to the way you steer the tm.

Hey CanePole I just got the foot pedal in. You correct about the foot pedal with the bubble contacts, I'm measuring about 4v when they are activated. My thought process now is I should just be able to use a standard automotive relay and an auxilary source of 12v power and just use the foot pedal wires as a signal wire. My only question now is do you think any harm would be done to the iPilot head if I just splice into the steering motor control wires and leave both the foot pedal and iPilot hooked up at all times? NO. The steering voltage comes from the Ipilot control board in the TM top compartment. FET OUTPUTS.
Look at 2 wires inside the power control board from the round 7 pin connector. Yellow and green wires are the steering SIGNAL wires. Tell me where the go or if they are not hooked up. These are the left right signal wires. That come from the foot pedal. POST a picture of the control board so I can see what I am dealing with. Gotta know these wires status. The best way tio do this is how I show you with those parts if you want foot control.
PRINT OUT A COPY OF MY FOOT PEDAL WIRING AND YOU WILL SEE HOW THE WIRES WE WILL BE USING. NEED TO FOLLOW OUT ALL THE WIRES. I DON'T HAVE A CLUE WHAY YOU HAVE FROM THE FACTORY. I DONE SOME V2 AUTOPILOT UPGRADES THOUGH. EASY PEASY.
I will draw up wiring how to's once I understand what i am dealing with.. All functions on the foot pedal work except steer, right??
V2 foot control wiring. These wires make up the cable from the V2 foot control.

That is correct all functions work except for steering. I will hop back out into the garage after work today and see what I can come up with.
The key to the puzzle is the yellow and green wires.

Also need the part number of the power control board. Is it 12v or 24v? Is it an add on Ipilot upgrade or is it from factory with ipilot?
I dug up a new relay module you can have if you decide to do this. I will set relay board up for simpler wiring.
Waiting on answers.
I am sorry for the delayed response on my part, I came down with something and I've been sick the past couple of days. My unit is is a 2020 24v powerdrive that was fitted from the factory with iPilot. I plan on making it out to the garage today sometime to dig a bit a deeper. Thanks again for your help.

This is the control board that is in the base of the Powerdrive trolling motor. The 4 wires that are disconnected in the bottom right hand corner of the board all share contiunity with the corresponding color wire in the round connector that iPilot/Footpedal hooks into.

Which wires go to the steering motor?
There are two wires, black and white coming out of the steering motor control I did not snap a picture of them. Came from the factory with the steering wires from the iPilot head hooked up to those wires.Quote:

Meter the yellow and green wires to the foot control board to the power board. You should get continuity. Of course with the foot cable hooked up. YOU will have to penetrate the rtv on the foot board.
IS the brown wire with spade connector on the power control board plugged into anything? IS he red wire with bullet connector on the power control board connected to anything?
Check continuity between brown wire on power control board to the black wire on the foot control board.
I await all these answers before we proceed. There are gotta know questions.
The foot pedal is a newer generation than mine. Works the same though. Your pedal is much improved over the one I had.

There are several models of foot pedals and control boards. This can be confusing. That is why I need to know exactly what you have.
I have a new idea I am going to try not sure if it will work or not but I will keep you posted.
