remelting "OLD" plastics?

I have a lot of old assorted plastic worms etc., can I just melt them in a microwave and pour in an open pur silicone mold and that's it? does anyone have any experience with this?

Man that brings back memories. Yes you can, youll need to separate colors of course unless you want a puke brown or ugly dark green color. We used to save all our bass lures and melt them down and pour into senko molds years and years ago, I read this post and instantly remembered the smell. If you are new to this, dont expect to do it in the house or use your kitchen microwave.

No, just 20-30 second bursts until it was just melted, but not water consistency. More like a thin pancake batter. Stirring with an old butter knife to melt the chunks. make sure you use a glass measuring cup, not anything your wife owns. Pyrex brand is best, but most any worked. Goodwill or such place usually have some glassware that will work

I will suggest you go here....Soft Plastics - TackleUnderground.com - Tackle Building Forums and do lots of reading before you start.

There are some plastics that you don't want to remelt.

Remelts are no problem. One minute in a microwave oven and then 30 second burst until you get it to 350 degrees (one burst should be enough). Do not try this with ZMan baits because they use a special plastic.
