I use Varivas ES2 Lemoni polyester line in 2.3# test. Varivas also makes Hi-Vis nylon and FC lines also. As to soaking lines in water...while it will relax a line when you first soak it as soon as it drys out it goes back to what it was. And if you live where you have hard water those minerals will stay in the line. I just left a place in TN with extremely hard water. Nice to be in Arkansas that has some of the softest water in the country. If one has to soak their line to get it to spool properly then you are using the wrong line. I don't have line issues...none....so I suggest to those having line issues just to get a premium line.
Regards
i am using Varivas Super Trout Advance Sight Edition 4#. Great line for a line watcher like me.
The only Hi-Vis line I use is 4# P-Line CXX . I have a couple of reels spooled up with it for worm fishing for bass .
Currently using Vicious Panfish Copolymer 6# test, and have been for the last several years. The only time it gets "soaked in water" is when I'm fishing. I get the "memory coils" out of it (after weeks/months of non-use) by tying it off and stretching it, then cutting it loose and winding it back on the spool under finger tension as it drags thru the grass. This relaxes the line from the stretching, then takes out a lot of the coils from dragging thru the grass.
I have used the line treatment, Real Magic from TTI Blakemore, in the past. It did seem to help, but the stretching/dragging method is cheaper. :ThumbsUp

I've fallen in love with this. Limp and smooth. Casts a country mile. Seriously.

Another vote for the Varivas super trout sight edition. I use it in 4lb and 6lb, but many of my reels have Varivas braid.
Vicious Line in 6# test. I longline troll and snag/break off enough that I am constantly re-lining my spools. I couldnt afford expensive line. HA!
I use the Varivas for my casting and jigging and dipping rods. I use Mr Crappie line or Slime line too, for trolling. On a few of my rod for trolling I do have braid though, never have to retie them, and don't worry about gars with that stuff on, but other than for those two reasons, I'm not a big fan of braid.
I use whatever is on sale , I run thru line like you can't imagine , sometimes I get stuck on a brand I like until I dont have anymore of it and try the next on sale line . so in synopsis i have no "favorite" go to line , so you see, sometimes i wish it was high viz and sometimes I am in the cant see the darn line ....line ,,,:Rofl
So this might be a dumb question but what is the purpose of high visibility line? Wouldn’t the fish see it? Living in TX and stained water everywhere I am just not sure? Would this be a good line for stained water and crappie fishing? What kind would be the appropriate kind? Lots and lots of choices from the Verivas Company.

I think there are as many favorite lines as there are people who fish with them. For most of my life I used the cheap mono from the sporting dept. of stores like Walmart. In 2021 I started chasing crappie after a long period of in activity. I watched many a video and after finding this board, reading a lot of posts. I started with MR. Crappie 4 lb and 6 lb mono both in high vis and clear#4 high vis won out as I caught more on it than any other. I then tried a braid that was inexpensive, and it worked just fine also. Because of the evil necessity of work, and at times health, I sometimes have a long period of inactivity and the mono tends to coil. I also take the time to stretch it out and it works just fine again. I am going to be testing a high vis braid soon. Like Ketchn, I am in the can't see the line.... line. :Rofl. I like the light line and the challenge it takes to land a bigger fish demon with it. I haven't caught enough crappie to be an expert as to what is best, but I have caught several using high vis and several using clear and a few with braid. So, I personally think it is up to the individual as to what they prefer to use. The fish just want a meal :fish
I have alot of different lines but lately I have been using 4lb Sufix line in Tangerine orange. Seeing your line is crucial when crappie fishing because many times the jump in your line is the only way you will know you have a bite. One of the keys to being a good crappie fisherman is becoming a line watcher.
Stren High Viz for me spider rigging. I think I am using 10lb. Will let you straighten out the LW Eagle Claw hooks when you get hung up. I don't know if the fish can see it or not. I can.
Diawa j braid X4 in flourescent yellow 15lb. with a 10lb. mono leader,
Bought a bulk spool of Vicious Hi-Vis Yellow Panfish (2,960 Yards) for $8.49 as I need to refill a few reels.
I really like crappie maxx 4lb yellow. Its the only crappie maxx that is any good IMO, and it is very good for the price. Its limp, soft, easy casting, and it goes on sale for $5 for 3200yds so you can replace it every trip if you want

Never really thought about seeing the line for yourself. I always thought about the fish being spooked or not biting due to the color of the line. I also am reaching the age of tough line sight!
Thanks

Gamma hi viz panfish in 2lb test. This is for U/L stream fishing. Two seasons and so far so good.

My preferred line is the Varivas Infinity PE X8…which is a braided line. I use a leader…get great hook sets and extreme sensitivity….great casting distance. It’s easy to see also. Expensive line but in my opinion is worth it.

Majority of the time I use 10lb vi vis Berkeley or stren mono. Spin cast reel and 6ft rod or
as a leader in front of braid on 12 and 14 ft jig poles. I mostly fish stained southern waters.

8lb Stren High Viz on my spider rigg poles.
My favorite is Izor line and pretty cheap too. 2-4lb is pretty soft, strong and manageable on spinning. All the slab I caught using 4lb Izor line as leader. As far as fish can see line, I think they see all type of line but depends all how they interpret.
Izor line 6lb
My goto is 4# Mr Crappie in hi-vis. It does have a tendency to build up memory. When it does I stretch it out in the yard. I maybe fish 4 trips with it and then replace it. Reason I use hi-vis is to see the line. I love to watch the line. I don't believe crappie are line shy.......BUT......I do believe that blue gill are line shy. Shell Crackers are even worse.
