Just a thought, would anyone be interested in a helping organize or participate in a crappie gear swap meet?

Check around, there's usually one in Richmond Ky. at the high school.
I think he’s talking about strictly crappie gear.
Most of the items in Richmond are bass fishing related. Supports the local High School. There are things like spinning reels and tackle bags. It is Feb 25th 8-2 in richmond Kentucky @ B. Michael Caudill Middle School. 1428 Robert R. Martin Bypass
I don't know, guys :dono .... sounds more like he's wanting to set one up and run it, rather than just "attend" one. Otherwise, why ask about "organize" (setting it up) or "participate" (bring your Crappie stuff to sell/swap) ??
Exactly. I’m asking if anyone is interested in participating in a swap meet? I’m only interested in crappie gear.
A few folks on the site make jigs and myself like most people have some rods and gear that would like to find a new home for.
If no one is interested we can take down the post. However if enough folks are interested we can arrange a time and place.

Any suggestions on a location? I’m just testing the waters to see if anyone is interested in participating.

Thought about a pavilion at Taylorsville or Green. I also have a few connections at a couple marina’s that we could possibly meet up at.

I'd be interested. I have some stuff to sell and would be willing to help. I suggest somewhere in central ky. DM me to talk about if ya want.

What about having it at a State Lodge like Rough River is central located? They have meeting rooms as well.
I’d love to participate! Don’t know how much stuff I’d have to contribute, but based on when and where it is, I’d be glad to help with setting up of tables, taking tickets/money, concession stand, whatever needs to be done.

I like this idea. A state park lodge meeting room would be a great idea. They would already have tables and such as they cater weddings and events. Climate controlled, secured if people wanted to set up early, and if it’s a lodge, it will likely have a place to stay for people who would be traveling to the event (like me) lol

Sounds excellent to me. If we have enough people interested in setting up and attending is the next issue. I’ll investigate a location.
If any vendors are interested let me know.

Yes, I would be interested in attending. I could even bring my friend that sells jigs also.
I have no dog in this hunt, but we did something similar in Louisiana at a couple of our crappie.com gatherings. It went well . We raffled off anything anyone contributed and gave the proceeds to a charity. Not suggesting you do that, just suggesting your swap could be done in conjunction with a fishing gathering.
I would be interested in a swap meet. Nothing to sell but as another poster said, I can buy. Reasonable drive from central KY would suit me the best.
I’m coming from far eastern ky, so central will work for me, if it’s west of say Louisville I’m probably out.

Any more development on this subject?

I’m still ironing out some kinks. Any suggestions or volunteers to help?

I volunteer to help any way I can with the event, just let me know what you need. I can provide my number if you like.
My only reccomendation as stated above would be a state park lodge in The central part of the state would likely be a prime location as it would provide a space, likely already have table, chairs, PA system and accommodations for those who are traveling.

What about getting all the people that have something to sell to just rent tables at the Richmond swap meet (Feb 25th) Table rental is $12/table ... and it's already an annual event. True, it IS mostly Bass oriented equipment/baits, but there are tables that have Crappie oriented equipment/baits ... and if our people get in on the action soon enough, there'd be even more Crappie fishing related stuff to choose from. And if you don't have but a few items, partner up with someone else and share a table.
Their ad says there's a maximum of 200 tables to rent ... so one could call and ask how many tables are still available.
Not trying to be a Debbie Downer, or sabotage your efforts, but just offering an exit ramp in the event there's not enough overall interest & participation to warrant having to rent a place & possibly have to charge an exorbitant amount per table or admission to cover the cost.
:dono .... just thinking out loud.
What about what "D" suggested? Could have something at the spring fling (after it wraps up) as a feeler and see how it goes and go from there, since a lot from here will be there. Just a thought
I thought about that, but it might not be permitted under the rules I signed on for. I had to tell them it's NOT a tournament venue, as there are extra permits/fees needed for "certain special events".
Now that's not to say it couldn't be held the day after, so long as it's permitted to hold something like that, since the picnic shelter is free & open to the public on a first come, first served basis ... but, I'd still check with the COE (270-465-4463) to make sure it's allowed. It's an "event" and they might want to charge the $50 rental fee, like they do for me to reserve the shelter. :dono
I’ve reached out to several places and no response just yet.
Yes, we will probably have to have some kind of table fee. I’m hoping small fee. Very small.
Still working on this……

At Holmes Bend at the spring fling is would be good i'd think. I'd call the corps number that Pappy posted & see if it would be allowed since it could be a crappie.com swap meet if need be since Pappy would have it rented for the day.
I've previously commented on this, and don't believe it to be compatible with my rental agreement with the COE. However, renting the shelter on the day after the Fling is an option. And at $50/day, with tables already there, it probably would be a cheaper venue than renting out a hall or other such building. :dono
