1/16oz ballhead w/#2 Aberdeen (weedless) for casting single jig to wood cover. As far as the weedguard goes, I prefer the Y shaped plastic style guard (clear), but the brush style is acceptable (clear or black). If I could get the 1/16oz w/#2 hook and the Y shaped weedguard, I'd take 200 of them right now. (no interest in the brush style at the moment)
As far as open hook jigheads ... I've got a ton of those in multiple sizes, so no interest there, either.
First crappie I ever caught I was fishing for bass and got it on a 1/4oz jig and a 2" augertail, not a clue about the hook. Best for me since getting into crappie has been 1/16th oz jig and I think their 1" or maybe 1 1/2" auger tails. Again no idea the hook size!
1/16 40 % of the time 1/8 60 % .
1/16 probably 90% of the time with either #4 or #6 hook. The other 10% is split between 1/8 and 1/32 depending on conditions of the day.
1/32 about 85% of the time, 1/16 for the balance.
About half and half maybe for me ...1/32 and 1/16 ball head sickle hook number 6
Rarely carry anything else
#4, #6 light wire aberden hook.
Bare, 1/32, 1/4, 1/8 weights.
Minnows, or tipped with artifical bait, (hair or plastic).

My go to has been #8 size hook with 1/64 or 1/48 oz weight. The heaviest I’ve fished with success where I go is a 1/32 oz with a #6 size hook. All of my fishing has been done dock shooting.

Wow, I see now what I need is smaller jig molds and various hooks to build several smaller sized jigs,,,smallest I build now is a 1/16 oz jighead with a #4 hook,,,,most of what I’ve built were along the lines of 1/8- 1/4oz jigs with hooks as large as 2/0. That’s a huge difference then what most of you guys are fishing,, Time to get busy,,,,
I just started crappie fishing this year myself & have a few 1/32 eagle claws, but i pretty much throw either a 1/16 or 1/8 ounce & pinch on a removable split shot if needed to get down quick or deep. I like fishing a 1/16 double jig rig a lot too.
I would be interested in the 1/16 y guard weedless like Crappy-pappy.

For me it all depends on fishing conditions. Is it windy, how deep am I fishing, I am I dipping brush or shooting docks. Unless you fish one type of way, a variety of jig heads is needed. I used 1/64-1/4oz jigs depending and conditions and methods. If I could only use one size it would be a 1/16 with a size 4 sickle hook.
I use the lightest jig I can get away with given current and wind.
Usually a pink 1/32 with a #4 gold eagle claw.

1/16 with #4 or #2 sickle 90% of the time. Almost always weedless, I prefer the piano wire guard, but also use the plastic bristle type. I'll usually trim all but 3 or 4 bristles on those.
I will fish a 1/32 occasionally, usually in the spring time.
I have a handful of 1/8 and 1/4 oz jigs but usually use the drop shot if going that heavy.
1/32 with a #2 or #4 sickle hook. Usually all I fish. Most have the collars trimmed off making them a bit lighter.
A majority of the time I use a 1/24 oz ballhead with hook matched to body length. Other than that, I always have on hand these jigs with different hook sizes:
(The column on the right shows how many I have of each jig weight/hook size. What hasn't been updated on the sheet are sickle hook jigs and some metric size jigs i.e. 1 gram.)
My two main is 1/32 and 1/16 in that order. I use unpainted and painted. I always love the sickle hooks.

Id say the easiest choice for me would be 1/16 oz and a number 4 hook. But often i will fish between 1/500 oz that has a #16 to a 1/80 with a 10 or 12. But i usually never have a live bait option
1/16 unpainted with number 4 sickle hooks are my main baits for my technique of fishing. I’ll also use a 1/32 with number 6 hook when I’m bobber fishing. I tip them with a nibble.
Man can’t believe I have so many 1/8 oz jigheads with1/0 or 2/0 hooks,,,looks like I’ve been fishing for Godzilla,,,,lol…time to unload some if any bodies looking for fresh painted jigheads in pillhead or new age minnow screw locks,,,time to make some room for the future sizes…
1/64 gold trout magnet head w/mint trout magnet body is my go-to when the bite is slow. I'll use up to 3/32 if the bite is on. Not sure what the hook size is.

Anything under 1/32. My do it 1/32 ball head actually comes out as 1/43 with a #8 sickle hook and they stay buttoned up very well if you do t over tighten the drag. I tie jigs on these and also wrap some thread on the shank to use my tiny plastics from sliding off too soon. Lately, like the last few years, I think of a 1/16 as a heavy jig.
For years I used to buy the Bighead Jigs. They were 1/4 oz with a #4 hook. Designed and built by Kentucky Lake guides who needed more weight for fishing 15 feet deep or deeper. Their logic was just because you need more weight why do you also need a bigger hook. Other than that I really like a 3/16 oz head with a #2 hook. Sometimes a 1/4 oz is just a little too heavy. 8 to 12 feet deep and no wind I like to go 1/8 or 3/16 before I go to 1/4.
I remember jig fishing in bad whitecaps one day and was using the 1/4 oz Bighead Jigs with a Midsouth Pink/Chart tube. In 12 foot of water with all that wave action and I could still maintain feel with my bait as I caught nearly a slab on every drop. Wish I would have had my Ultrex back then!
