I don't use minnows but have noticed something over the years. I use very small hooks which helps with smaller crappie and gills, but I don't notice any issue missing larger fish. My standard jighead is a 1/32oz with a #6 hook and a tiny 1" paddle tail grub (Charlie Brewer Slider). :twocents

#2 blue/black long shank Aberdeen minnow hook. #6 1/32, and #2 1/24 and 1/16 jigs with red hooks.

I use a 1/32 oz jig head. It definitely stops gut hooks
