Can you mount the LVS34 transducer on the Ulterra or will it have to go on a pole? I am concerned with the automatic deploy and retract operation of the motor.

It will go on but you'll find the foot pedal for ultera and terrova SUCK for sniping open water crappie. If you can ultrex is the way to go. Night and day difference. Scott
Too stupid to explain the mechanics behind the 2 designs but they are night and day different IMHO. You can take a small piece of board like a 1" x 2" and attatch it in the middle of the pedal to give you something to rock your foot back and forth on and it's better but not even close to the degree of control you have with ultrex in making very small micro adjustments to keep a fish and jig on the screen. It is not that you can't catch any fish with that set up, the reason I'm familiar is have a couple of friends with the same set up but as you get " good " at sniping you will catch more IMHO.If your primary method of fishing is using the remote or spotlock the they are fine. Scott
Its has been my understanding and belief that by the nature of its design and its self stow and deploy capabilities that you shouldn't attach anything to the Ulterra shaft.
I spotlocked in the wind but also maneuvered around a lot using the pedal yesterday. It is different but i didn't think it was that bad after kind of getting use to it. My buddy has a new ultrex so i'll be using it & be able to compare them against each other then.
I already have one of those Cornfield mounts on my Ulterra as a result of the Lowrance transducer being attached to the bottom of my trolling motor. I disconnected the foot control and only use the remote fob. Guess I will have to go with a pole. Thanks for the responses.
Didn’t they make the ultrex earlier models with cable steer and now they are electric steer just like all the rest? Just wondering if there’s any difference now at all…
No sir they still have cables. Just installed a brand new one on my boat. Again the main concern is what type of fishing you primarily do. I mostly snipe for open water crappie and having the degree of maneuverability allowed by the ultrex is a big deal. If you only spotlock and throw to a spot not as important but with the ultrex you have the option to do both. Scott
Looking back I probably should have gone with the Ultrex rather than the Ulterra. But, I am in too deep money wise to change out. I have had issues with the Ulterra but found it to be more my fault than the motors. My boat has round stainless steel railing in the front on each side. Guess I will have to go with a pole and look for a way to attach it to the railing. I spider rig mostly and I am finding I sure am getting a little cramped for space with the rod holders, trolling motor, minnow bucket, and now a pole to have to bring in and out when I want to move or travel.
I have an Ulterra and advise against attaching anything to it unless you are ready for a repair bill. Mine was $250.
Thanks for the warning. I appreciate it.
My Ultera has a sensor, if it detects anything out of the ordinary like a bump or additional weight on the shaft when it is stowing or deploying it throws a fault and stops immediately, it can be a bit tricky to do a reset to clear the fault code but mine is an older unit, newer units have a built in reset button. I don't think I could run a transducer connected to the motor or shaft even with some of the creative wiring that I have seen out there due to the additional weight it would trip the sensor.
I despise my terrova foot control. Its junk compared to others as far as feel goes
the livescope works good on ulterra but better mounted on the barrel of troll motor than the shaft of the troll motor
still need the thing fron confield crappie to hold the cable out from the unit when deploying it . been working for years.
