I understand the need to win in order to maintain one's income in the sport. It is still a shame one has to set aside their integrity to do so.
I think it’s just nature of some individuals. Even before the money there were those willing to cheat. It really is a shame and sad to see.
Amazing how big this story is. Even the New York Times covered it.
Shame on them. Imagine being one of their sponsors & what comes back on them. Add the chance to win money to fishing and it brings out the worst in some people.

A major player in the crappie tournament game got busted in 2019. He had won tens of thousands of $$ over his career. Many suspected his cheating for years. He got busted for fishing a lake that was off limits during a national championship.

Sad. A sport to enjoy and some will ruin it because of greed.
they say money is the root of all evil , seems reasonable to me , but they left out fame and notoriety ,

Fishing tournaments are sometimes too tempting for those of weak character. All set to claim their anglers of the year award….then everything went bad. Happy they got caught.
yeppers , years ago a crappie tourney we were in, had us in a spot that was going to land us near first , then along came a last minute "rule change " by the governing body , that somehow greatly benefited some fellas that were buds with the governing body , I was young enough back then to really let it bother me , but the good news is I kept my sanity in place and walked away telling myself , this ain't my thing for sure .....:bangheadQuote:

Competition is not my thing. But a thief is a thief and cheating is a thief getting caught.
Not really sure, but on one of the videos of this mess, it was stated that one of the two had already lost their hunting license for being caught poaching. In my opinion, if they will cheat, and break laws in one aspect, look out 'cause they gonna break a whole mess of them. They don't respect the query...
