Now i have the fatguys fork tail crappie slayer, the 2" ba stinger tail shad with tail mold, the do-it 2" flapjack, the do-it crappie fluke, & the jacobs 2" crappie dancer. I know i have another one too but can't for the life of me remember what it is right now. lol It's amazing sometimes how quickly those of us that make our own baits we can acquire molds. Also when you got molds you know your garage walls & tackle storage is running over with baits. :biggrin
Which is why I buy my baits. I have jig head molds in my garage. No need getting started with making baits, too.
Making baits is very addictive I have probably over 100 molds and we are still buying them we get tired of them and sell them and buy more but it is a hobby that I really enjoy.
Glad you chimed in Bob. The other mold is the octopus i bought from you. lol

Yep i could sale all i wanted but don't want to be obligated because normally i'm working 6 ten hour days a week & i'm not ruining something i enjoy doing by making a job out of it therefore i give a lot of baits away to buddys & kids too.Quote:

I pour and paint jigs now for young folks at fishing derby's. Kids love free stuff, I get to enjoy my hobby so it's a win win. Besides, walking around the kids and parents handing out FREE bags of jigs and seeing those smiles is a blast. And yes I have done this at the fishing holes here were folks bank fish. Last year I was pulling my boat out the same time another boat was and I heard the little girl say "Dad, that's the jig guy". She said I lost my favorite jig today and you gave it to me this spring. So we discussed what she thought it looked like from my jig box. She left with what she thought it was and alot more. LOL

Making plastics is one thing I won't get into!! I have more tackle making stuff right now, and I'm lucky a few folks I've traded things with make me plastics that I use.

We normally do it through trial and error, and then we end up with a hefty pile of bought bags we no longer use. We have excess. I make the lead jig heads and haven’t got time for such foolishness.

Just got the Fat Guys Fishing 1.5 BA mold in the mail today. I needed err wanted it earlier in the summer but it is better late than never.
I really like my 2 incher. I made a buddy 60 monkey milk with chartruese tails in a few minutes the other day.
If you guys do not know they are making that stinger with the slide so you can shoot the tail push the slide down and shoot the body. I ordered a 20 cavity in a different stingers style like they have similar to a Bobby Garland with a built-in slide no I haven’t got it yet.
Yep they just introduced their slide system. I only pour for myself so cutting the tails off the body and reinserting the body back into the mold is no big deal. It is certainly a time saver for those who sale baits. I have my eye on another mold so I will wait for his next sale.
I talk to them on the phone they called me and asked me a question I told him why don’t they make a slide for like a Laminate instead of using the dual injector so you may see that in the future from them.Quote:

Making soft plastics for friends has been the best 15 + years of my life. Now I am hand tying a ton of worms for youth groups and seniors like me who love to fish for panfish but don't want the hassle of trying to keep redworms alive and the fish from grabbing them off the hook. One of my church members asked me to try and make them some indestructible redworms and I got hooked into making Meal worms, Wax worms, Maggots and Red worms. i have learned to never say never Fatman. You will soon be making your own soft plastics. The link I posted is to my Red Worms as an example of how quickly you can get hooked.Quote:

But what I don't understand is why more anglers on this or any forum don't try making hybrid soft plastics with some of the access lures you own but that are buried away never to be used again. All it takes is a candle flame and a bit of an imagination or you could copy any of the 50 lures I've posted on crappie.com.
The difference is that THE LURES YOU CREATE WILL BE USED AGAIN AND AGAIN ONCE YOU'VE CAUGHT DOZENS OF FISH ON THEM!
Variety is the spice of fishing IMHO.
I have seen You Tube Videos on that slide technique. It appears to be really cool. They should have had that years ago when I was really into making soft plastic lures. I definitely probably would have bought that mold. Oh Well....who knows. One day that wife of mine night say "Go buy yourself what you want" Then I will have to choose between the new mold or a new truck. I must be dreaming. That decision is a no brainer. Well I vowed I would not be purchasing anymore molds. Now Print A Lure has a 23% off and BugMolds 20% so I have three more molds headed my way. I wish I could just say no.
