I normally filet everything, but I am going to catch a lot of bream out some low ponds and cook them whole, I am tired of using a spoon LOL.
thanks

A little more expensive than a spoon, but it works great. - Yamasho brass fish scaler. Here is an amazon link https://www.amazon.com/Yamasho-BUL20...df655b0300c32d
Looks like it would do a great job
I always just used the backside of the fillet knife or top I guess some would call it.

This is what I use in the kitchen. Scales don’t fly everywhere. Fits most electric knives too.
Curry comb for horses. I kind of feel sorry for the fish.
I never had a problem with a spoon. Scales don't fly, and price is right.
a heavy metal table spoon is my tool of choice , not sure about any other forms of scalers is me ....:dono
The best I've ever used. I paid $1 a piece at Toledo Tackle the last time I was there. They last a long time, scales don't fly and overall a great product. Thanks to my fiends shadow for turning me on them. They are great on bream and small bass and whole fryer size sac-a-lait.

If you have good water pressure you can spray them off from the tail . Messy but will take them off .
btw, you can skin catfish with a quick dip in boiling water , my nanny skinned catfish this way , Louisiana back country style catfish skinning
