Spinning reel
most of my friends that LS use spinning reels , but there are lots of folks that use baitcasters and etc as well .....
probably is one of those things on what dials you in best is my thoughts :dono
I’ve always loved the feel of a pistol grip, BUT alas the bait casting skills don’t match. Spinning for me.

I use a spinning reel on a BnM Russ Bailey. Pflueger President 25.
Spinning!!
Spinning reel. The lighter the better.

I never likes a spinning reel but use one for a shakey head or ned rig when bass fishing. I tried the baitcaster for vertical jigging & just didn't really like the feel of it on my 13 foot acc crappie stix super grip rod with rear reel seat so i tried a spinning reel & like it so much better.
Would never use a baitcaster with light lures; like to alternate between spincast (push button) and spinning - both with braid line on both.
Never got past the rat's nest on the bait caster. Don't have live-scope either. But I do have a few open-faced spinning reels...
Spinning all the way.
I tried the bait casters and love them except turning them over for line to hang on eyes . Saw a rod that had eyes rotate from top to the bottom in the first two eyelets but have not see anyone using one .
I use mostly spinning but have used BC reels in the past to manage line twist. Trolling cranks and deep jigging I was having issues with line twisting pretty bad when the drag slipped with a good fish on. But trolling jigs I had to use spinners cuz of the weight.
It really depends how deep you are fishing. For me fishing deeper water most of the time and liking to pitch out a little, the spinning reel works better. The other advantage of a smaller spinning reel is it’s normally lighter.
The big advantage of a bait caster, especially with braid, is you are always going to have a solid lock up without any slip on the hook set. Spinning reels with braid are really bad about line not sitting right in the bail(gets stuck out in middle of bail when you are locked in watching the screen) and what ends up happening is the bail opens up when you set the hook and you lose the fish most of the time. If I fished shallow water with Livescope I would choose the bait caster all the time just for that reason.
Baitcaster on a long pole, Huckabee Trident 13 . Mainly to hold line and weight to balance the rod. But did buy a new one recently that will cast a 1/8 oz jig fine . Really light and smooth , hope it holds up, ordered 2 of them .
