I haven’t heard a peep from anyone on fishing? I have been moving to a different house, so been out of the loop, plan on hitting the water after Labor Day , the little red Lund wants to get wet all fall.

Hi Zimmy,
Not much fishing this year.
Had my left knee replaced in April and the recovery going ok. Was getting ready to try launching the boat and doing some fishing.
Wife and I came down with COVID a little over a week ago. Not much fun.
Hopefully we can get out in September for some fishing;
Yep. I’ve been pretty busy lately.

If you can, go to Lake Erie. I have been fishing out of Conneaut Ohio since June and it has been hot almost every time we went. We just cast worm harnesses. You can fish any where from 20 to 70 ft. straight out of the harbor and catch fish. We target walleyes, but enjoy catching every thing sheephead, catfish, perch. It is a lot of fun to pull up a big catfish from 45 ft.and the walleyes are from 6 to 28 in. that we caught. My wife caught this 34 inch one in 65 ft and it wanted to go to Canada, 15 minutes later we got it in the boat

Nice fish. they are out there and willing to hit, a lot of fun. The only problem now is getting the perch to start hitting.
That is how our results have been too, see marks that you think are perch and get nothing. We still get a few casting, but nothing close to what it was a couple years ago up there. The ones we get now seem like they are suspended, not on the bottom like before. It was a lot of fun when you could catch them, hopefully they will come back .
I did a search for Charter Boats in Ohio that offered trips specifically for perch.
Figured it would be a more relaxing fishing trip and hopefully good eating fish to bring home. It would be me, wife, son and daughter in law.
Found a website offering trips for perch fishing. I contacted them and the captain said that they have not been doing perch fishing trips for several years now.
He said that the perch population is greatly reduced from several years ago. His explanation was that the walleyes like to eat perch and there are an incredible number of walleyes in Lake Erie right now.
Doin pretty good at Shenango lake this week. Two days, two limits of summer crappies. Mostly blacks with thick sides. Got some as shallow as 6feet and as deep as 17. Hang gliding has produced most of my keepers. BG baby Shad’s are the bait of choice.
Had a good day at Shenango lake today. Put a limit of nice size crappies in the sink. Used an acc crappie snax jig today. Worked well tipped with a nibble.

Nice catch Ken!!!! Has the water come up? I was at hartford 2 weeks ago and water was to low to launch boat.
I fished last Saturday water was about 3 1/2’ low fishing was tough. Only caught small crappies and strippers, marked a lot of fish. Hey Chaunc I am planning on fishing about 2-3 days a week thru October there. See ya on the water. Hey what about that notice at the launch about blue green algae, you may become sick if you get some water in you?

Here’s a couple from today.
I got an outstanding crappie today on my home lake here up north. We don’t get many three pounders here but I got one this morning. It’s eighteen inches long and weighed 3.2 pounds. Got it on a one sixteenth ounce jig with a crappie magnet body tipped with a nibble.

Wowsers what a hoss! Thanks for sharing. What’s you jigging or hang gliding?
Beautiful fish, Congrats!
That is a dandy. Great fish
WOW!!! That's a hog for sure.
On another note, about launches. The lake is down over 3 1/2 feet, so only the main launches are usuable.
That would make a nice mount, Smitty. Especially from your home lake.
Awesome fish there Sir! Definitely a hog!
Hey Smitty, Maybe sometime I will come out and you can tell me the story of how you caught that big one. It might be helpful if you took me to the "exact spot" as you tell the story just to add some realism.
Was good catching up with you and Jodie Zimmy. I finished off that pod of slab crappies at that spot. Took a limit and had to throw 10 more back. Was fun culling 11” fish. See you two next time you’re up this way.

Hey Chaunc it was great seeing you again, Jodi and I will probably be back next Tuesday, always have fun on the water, checking out my supply of litty bitty for next week. Doesn’t it feel good when you have to cull that many! Have a great day my friend! [emoji476][emoji476][emoji476][emoji476]

Good seeing you Zimmy. Sorry I didn’t have time to stop and chat today. We put two limits plus a couple white bass in the box. Baby Shad’s we’re the ticket.

You guys fishing the fall bite here in PA. At what water temps will we see things slowing down? 55 degrees here and crappie still on good.
They don’t slow down. I fish until I can’t get my boat on the lake and catch fish even past then. Fished on New Year’s Eve last year and put a limit of big ones in the box. If the ice was stable and we were allowed to take atv or snowmobiles on the lake, we’d hammer them all winter too.
