Had a hilarious day Friday when Tom and Mitch joined Adam and me. We laughed from start to finish as we taught Mitch the finer points of pulling Off Shore planer boards.
The most fun was when Mitch hooked a pig of a blue catfish and it tangled up 5 of our 6 planer boards lines and two long lines. While trying to figure things out, the blue was on top, 10 feet behind the boat. It finally had enough and pulled loose. Tom then decided he wanted a big catfish for Ms.Shelby. Too late Tom.
We got him one later.

We struggled with the crappie but it's always fun coming to Mississippi to fish! Really enjoy seeing old friends and making new ones! Thanks to Coach and Speck for putting Crankfest together.

Ted (BillBob) has fished with me in the past but it was extra special to share my boat with him this trip. Going thru what he is now would make most of us settle for sitting on the couch, not Ted. He stuck it out for over 5 hours. Having a top for shade and a 20 volt fan blowing on him helped but having a pretty lady in the seat next to him proved too much to pass up.
I finally located some nice fish and my new Ohio friends got to see the Off Shore OR12s and Picos soaked in SlabSauce work their magic.
It was a memorable day for me and I thank Ted and Ed (Slab) for their many years of friendship.
Even though David (G) is no longer with us for these events, the memories of all our good times with him were.

Ted has first dibs on his seat in my boat there too!
BTW, that last pic is what 50 miles of 80mph traffic on I-40 will do for a stack of crank boxes in a boat floor!

It was an awesome time for my wife and I. We met some truly awesome folks and made some new friends. It was our first Crankfest and won’t be the last good lord willing. Thanks to everyone for the hospitality and sharing vast knowledge with us.
I really enjoyed my trip to Mississippi crank fest. Thanks to all who has a hand in putting it on.
