Nice looking rod
The Tenryu Rayz I bought from VaCrappieMan!
My BnM TCB Leland’s!
If we're talking strictly casting purposes .... I'm quite fond of my ESP PowerLite 6'6" rod.
I've been looking at getting a Sam's super sensitive. I really like all of my BnM rods.
There is no "fixed reel seat" .... it's a Tennessee Style handle with "rings" to hold the reel onto the handle. I've had several different reels on it, but currently have a Mitchell 308x on it. The 308x weighs about 8.6oz and makes the outfit a bit on the handle heavy side, but that probably could be negated a bit by moving the reel forward a bit. It doesn't bother me that it's handle end heavy, so I use it "as is".
The "rings" work, but they are subject to slipping off the reel foot (especially reels with a thick reel foot). This can be taken care of by electrical tape, which I have used with previous reels I've had on the rod ... like when I had a Okuma STX20 on it.
The end guides and tip are "micro guides" ... so it's not user friendly to "bobber stops" or even line connecting knots. (FYI)
*disclaimer : this rod was given to me for "field testing" by the designer (now VP of Marketing at Norsemen Outdoors). I did not purchase the rod, and have no obligations to him or the marketing company (then or now). I recommend this rod only from my experiences with using it.
I use to have a couple with tennessee rings. Once I found the position and reel I like for them I thought about using heat shrink on them. But I had too many rolls of electrical tape laying around.
Of all my rods, I would have to say My TCB I won in the contest thread. Paired with a President reel, It's a great set up.
I have used many of rods over the years and for casting it’s Pro Angler. Like $50-60 shipped. Best I have found.
TCB with President reel.
Jenko Trick Stick Light
I’m different!
I want something with a lot of back bone so when I feel that thump I can horse him out from under a dock or a tree if I need to. and still have good sensitivity . and to me it’s hard to beat the Wally Marshall 7’ speed shooter ! absolutely love em ! ! I use it for every application Second would be my pro angler! :twocents
Man I tell you what. It’s hard to put my sharpshooter down too. I use it all the time as well. I brought in a 5lb bass with that rod.

My goto rod is a Norseman Power light 6' foot with Tennessee rings. It has a Pfluger President XT on it.
Next is a 6'6" Cashion CRT with a Diawa Revros.
3rd is a 5'6" Pro Tackle Angler with a President. That rod is built like a battleship.

Jenko Trick stick light . B/M SPINNING ROD .
I don't think I have a favorite rod. I don't care to pay for expenssive rods. Picked up and handled a few and can't tell the difference between them and similar rods. I think my most used rod is an OkumaCE-S 602UL FOR 1-4# line and I use 2# line on it. Have a Shakespere, Berkley Cherrywood and coupke other's I also like. Well, must be my Okuma as I never let anyone borrow it!
I suppose much has to do with your preferred method of fishing.
Or did i miss that part?
I have an Okuma two piece 5' rod CE-S-502UL-1. Rated for 1-4 pound line ans I have SOS 2# on the reel.
I have never fished an expensive rod. The brands I have used the most??? Shakespear and BnM. So them, I recon.
Jenko ' S"TRICK STICK LIGHT " and B/M 'S 7 FT SPINNING ROD .
I carry 5 minimum in my truck at all times .....
Garcia Vigilante 7 one pc
Bonehead 7 one pc
Dobyns 6 one pc
Allstar 56 one pc
Ozark trail 56 one pc
They all cast well in my opinion in the right situations , but I prefer the 7s for long range casts and hooksets
In tight quarters the Dobyns 6 is my go to next
The other short rods are mostly dock rods , but cast as well as the others
I gauge the rod lengths and sizes to match the potential fish sizes and spots I hit
I always have a very definitive plan when I step out of my vehicle in pursuit of them crappie fish
From what I read on different sites, not maany people plan much. have read a bit about what rod to get for catfish and seem's obvious to me the rod will depend on a number of thing. Like the size of fish your after especially. A bullhead is a catfish but a 2# one is huge and does not require the same equipment as a 100# blue you might be looking for. I was happy to see you put that little bit in there. My lightest UK spinning rod will work fine on bullheads. But if I wass targeting fish over about 30# the rod for me would be my sturgeon rod! Everything else my round level winds.
I went redfish and speckled trout fishing in LA and the guide had some sarge custom rods and a few bucoo. He used the bucoo bc clients were breaking his $250 rods. I really liked the bucoo and so did he, and he thought they were a good value at $100. Where you getting them for $50??
I haven't done a ton of Crappie fishing in my life (casually fished for them occasionally for the first 50+ years), but I'm fishing a new lake to me a lot in retirement and so have started Crappie fishing a fair bit. Most of the rods that I've been using were rods that I used for big Yellow perch in deep, clear water and they all work reasonably or very well. On the lake I'm fishing now, I still prefer a 6'6"-7' rod and like an UL action with a fast action for good hook sets with lots of line out (or wind, etc.). The two that I've started picking up more than any of the others are Denali Pryme series, one-piece spinning rods, one in 6'6" UL-fast action and the other in 6'9" UL-mod-fast action. I've mostly been casting to brush or open-water fish, but have used both of these rods for dock shooting as well. I think they retail at $60-70 and I'd call them a fair deal at that price.

Don't really know, JD .... I've used the rubber "football" type, the "dogbone" type, and the "ladder" type bobber stops, and even on rods with big guides & tip eyes there were problems. They either hung up on the cast, shortening the distance, or when reeling a fish in they'd catch at the tip and get pushed down the line (rubber football) or just hung in the tip until slack was let in the line and the stops reeled thru in that split second (dogbone/ladder). I don't remember losing a fish on any of those accounts, but the cumbersome nature of using them made me use them sparingly. In fact, I think I've only used a slip float one time in the last couple of decades, and that was with a rod with regular size guides. I'm pretty sure the whole tip of my ESP rod would easily pass thru the tip of any of my regular rods.
I have a couple with those Micro guides. I don't care fer dem. So as slick as momma's happy with this house re-do, I'm settin' out to remedy that with something along the concept of concept guide set up with runnin' guides large enough to pass the bobber stop knot, which I use...Thanks for the follow-up CP
I bought a 10 foot acc with cork handle that i'm really liking. I a 13 ft. acc super grip rear seat, a jenko Kevin Rogers 13 footer, a 9 ft. okuma connisuer but the 10 ft acc is really light & sensitive with good back bone. I'm using a shimano fx on it & it's nice in my opinion.
I have two I've been I really like and find myself using a lot more than others. Both, are cheaper rods and reels. The first is a 7 ft. All Star panfish which was a clearance deal at Academy. The second is a BPS panfish elite 7'2" lite power, that i have fallen in love with. I did use a buddy's Jenko hypersense 7' that was nice.
