Curious as to what rods people are using and if you all have experience with telescoping rods for crappie.
Started with Cane , then 7 dollar a piece telescopic rods 25 years ago . Anything that will hold a line and bait will work . Fish know nothing about boats/ rods . I now use B/M and Southern . Fish taste the same .lol :twocents
Use to use a 10' & 12' telescoping fiberglass poles to dip a minner under a slip float into the "buckbrush" of KY & Barkley lakes back in the 1970's
Still use 13' BPS Uncle Bucks Deluxe telescoping rods as part of my jig/crank Pushing array, in more recent years.
Pretty sure I had a telescoping spinning rod at some point in between those times.
They all worked, and they all caught fish.
Were you referring to any particular type of telescoping rods in your query ??

OK ... so how will you be using them (what method will you be using) ?? You gonna use one pole in hand, spider rigging out of a boat, fishing off a dock/pier ?? And why do they need to be telescoping rods ?? (price, storage or carrying convenience)Quote:

Most crappie rods over 6’ are 2 or 3-piece rods (like your fly rod), but they’re not telescopic.
In a “true” telescopic rod, it has guides, but they’re movable so the rod can collapse down. See here:

I'm really glad to see all these questions...these were all the same questions I had and found that the Blackwell Combo rod and reel, although shorter than many, at 6'9", it hit all the others...portability, graphite, guides, strength, sensitivity at the end, (for me fishing on the shore) or boat. But time and use will tell...
I will be boat fishing mostly Was just looking at a long rod to flip in and out of structure but it seems i am good with what i have already been using for other panfish. Ty for all the info
the BnM lil jewel we use is a bit light for crappie if they are big crappie , but it works well on typical panfish size crappie , it is flyrod light though and just a whisper of a rod .
Can you use the Lil jewel for casting at all, or is it more suited for jigging from docks and/or boats?Quote:

I like my acc crappie stix 13 foot super grip rod. It's a great jigging rod for livescope fishing but wouldn't be much at casting.
