Dang, why didn't anyone tell me about this.

All these years my back has been giving me problems and no-one told me an epidural steroid injection would help. Just like trucks, I love sitting upright in my truck and the first time I drove it 9 hours to MS back in 2016 I jumped out of it and I wasn't all stoved up! I joke, cause people have been telling me, but I just don't listen I guess!!!!

I went to ICAST on Wednesday and Thursday and barely got through it! I received the injection yesterday morning, and went fishing this AM. Although not 100%, I'm tons better. The injection is supposed to take a couple days to work anyway, but dang, I'm back in business!!!!!

Awesome news Slab. Only bad thing I’ve heard about the shots are they don’t last. Have to keep getting them. Hopefully it lasts a good time for you though. :highfive

If the steroids quit working they can do a nerve block which as been wonderful for me had my first round last October with fairly decent results and just had another round last week pretty simple procedure in and out in 2-3 hours . Feeling great !

My wife and I both, have had these injections and they do work, but like others have said, sometimes have to go back. I think they allow up to 4 injections a year. Good to hear you got some relief.:ThumbsUp

Glad they are working for you. I had damaged disks in my back and in 2001 tried several fixes. Your type was one. Work for. Short time. I ended up having a spinal fusion. Has worked out great. Like the surgeon told me tho. I still have pain at times but nothing so severe that I am down for long term. As long as I don’t over do too much I am ok. Hope it works out for you long term +Cross+

The 3 I had did nothing for me. The 5 my nephew had did nothing for him. That's why I didn't tell you. And what a weird way to plug that you get to go to Icast and we don't. Did you use the corporate jet? Don't forget to fill it up. lol

Good to hear that injection helps you. Better than having to have back surgery that's for sure.

Corporate jet! I'd have to drive past the convention center where Icast was being held to get to the airport. And who can afford jet fuel anymore anyway! Geez!

New to me. But they've been around for a long time I guess. I've had back problems for a long time but was always afraid of getting treatment because of all the horror stories I've heard about back surgery. I was diagnosed with herniated disks and arthritis long ago, and my back would go out regularly. Finally committed to doing something about it.

I am having the troubles your having as well Ed. I have had multiple ablations and have lumbar ablations scheduled for late August. Right now I am fighting two fractures in my T spine and waiting on the doctors to figure out how to fix it. I am out of the fishing pool this summer and can’t travel the Crankfest as I had hoped. Crappie.Com keeps me sane.

I had 4or 5 injections in my lumbar spine where they guided the needle with x-ray. They were temporarily relief at best.

During the prep from my 1st knee replacement, the anesthesia doctors couldn’t find a place to do the spinal without bending their needles. When my pelvis was dislocated during the surgery, I had tests done that showed a collapse at L5-S1 and degenerative disc disease at the 4 levels above.

L5-S1 fusion took care of my pain. I don’t get stupid with
lifting like I used to but can stand ALL day in the boat during crankbait guide trips. If I have issues in my spine again, I won’t hesitate one second to have another fusion.

Well, I didn't have the same luck as you. I told someone I was having lots of pain and they told me the same thing. I needed a couple of shots. I went home, grabbed a glass and poured three fingers twice over ice. Felt pretty good that night but in the morning I was still in pain.

Thanks Doug, I think I am having the same lumbar fusion coming my way with my herniated discs. Ate possible having my T- spine fused as well. Your post is encouraging for sure and alleviates some of my concerns.

Glad to hear you found some relief! I had 3 years ago. The first one wasn’t administered right and I got zip from it. The next two were done right and made me feel 20 for about 40 days. If I ever go on a bucket list vacation I’ll be having one done about a week before. It’s cool not to hurt every day.

Really not a lot to add to my original post above. I did find this one guy in a booth with an interesting idea. Seems he reinvented the bobber. Instead of clipping to the line with a simple wire, it clips across the whole width of the bobber itself. Sturdy made, and clasps along a larger stretch of line, so I thought it was a really cool idea. He's only has the larger size out now, but once he has the smaller ones available, I'd definitely try one. Great idea Delano, and nice meeting you.
