The rest of the Story
First and most important to me is my thanks to the many of you that kept me in your prayers. You see, I was the member that Slab spoke of that wanted to remain anonymous and had a health issue arise a while back. Bear with me and let me start at the beginning.
My brother came to visit earlier this year and was coughing and not feeling himself. Being from out of state we went to a local quick care clinic. Short story, my wife and I wound up there also in the following days. While I was being examined, the nurse felt along my jawbone on the right side and felt what I thought was a swollen gland. She said that it wasn’t, but let’s see what happens. I got better but the lump continued. In May I had a cardiologist appt. And brought this lump up. My primary had closed and relocated and I couldn’t wait any longer, and they agreed and started the ball rolling. I was sent for an X-ray that said there was something there and they needed more info. Next came a biopsy on the first which found metastatic carcinoma. Now I got real nervous. On the ninth was a pet scan that told us where, if anywhere, the origin of this was. I was given the results roadside while I was working yesterday. The only area that lit up in the scan was the lump area, nothing anywhere else. All of the prayers offered for me were answered with that phone call. Everywhere else showed no issues. Now this isnt a get out of jail free card but now I know how big a fight I have ahead. Joni’s thoughts joined with mine trying to think of what we should do if this or that happened. The stress was enormous and I wish it on no one. Tuesday is the oncologist to go over results and get a plan and Thursday is the ear, nose and throat doc that will also have a hand in this. That is the story so far. This is a forum for happy and upbeat topics and this isn’t that. We all have our health issues and I don’t want to dwell any more than I have, but I felt the need to let my second family know why the prayers had been asked for and the result of them. I’ve been looked after several times these past few years, and my blessings continue. I’ll post a small update from time to time but I expect the normal treatment and recovery times will apply. My biggest blessing in all of this is that of my Wife at my side. She keeps all the details in line while I keep going through my daily ritual. God bless all of you, and thank you again.

Skeet, I had a similar situation as yours several months ago. I noticed two lymph nodes on the right side of my neck in late Summer of 2021. I began to worry because they were not going away. So in November of 2021 I had my surgeon do a needle biopsy. The results showed high grade squamous cell carcinoma. Then I really began to worry. My onocologist then referred me to radiation doctor who advised me to get the lymph nodes removed so less radiation would be required. He further referred me to an ENT surgeon, and the lymph nodes were removed in late February 2022. I told my ENT I was not going to take any chemo or radiation unless I can be assured that there was no more cancer. She, the ENT, said we would do another scan in 3 months to see if it showed anything. This was preceded by a biopsy of three different locations in my throat by a previous ENT. They were all negative. My conclusions of this leads me to believe that the cancer was confined to the lymph nodes, although she didn't actually say that, but she was thinking the same thing by the tone in her voice. I have a scan scheduled for late July.
Thanks for the post, Skeet. I have received several prayers from this wonderful second family also.
Hang tuff Skeet and remain positive, and my prayers are with you.

My Thanks to everyone for having my back, it really is a comfort to know that so many think of me. Army man, it sounds like a parallel story to mine and I’m praying for the same outcome. You’ll be in my prayers going forward. My daughter is a survivor, at 37years old, of cervical cancer. God is Good! Our plan is to get survivor tattoos when I’m done. I’ll bet she’s already doing the research on which ones we’ll get. Y’all are the best!

Continued Prayers for a speedy recovery and complete healing.

Sorry to hear this. Wishing you the best.

My friend,
Some of the most stressed filled days in your life is when your medical professional uses the word "Cancer" or "Heart Attack" or "Stroke" and he or she is talking about an illness in your body. After you panic and go through the "Why Me?" phase you realize that almighty God has brought this to you for a reason and for a season. I know this personally for I have heard the doctors say all of those words to me and many others. I was born three month premature and not allowed in the hospital because I was born in the deep south and at that time in 1945 Blacks were not even allowed in the hospital where my mother was taken. An heating lamp and baby oil were my incubator. That was over 76 years ago.
I say all this to encourage you that almighty God will make a way for you and we pray for your healing in the name of Jesus. "If God brought you to it then God will bring you through it!" Have faith in Jesus my friend.
Mike

Thank you Ship. I know you’ve had your trials and are still here. I’ve dealt with a few bad things so far and it’s my belief that there is something I’m supposed to do before he calls me home. My favorite mantra is that everything happens for a reason. One day I’ll be taken out of the work force and shown a way to do what he has planned for me. I try to keep my head in a place where I’ll be listening when he speaks and not ignore his plans. I’ve had a very good and blessed life with many of his gifts to make me smile on a regular basis. I could go on but suffice to say that I’m comfortable with whatever he sends to me.

Tim, prayers for you, and all involved in getting you healthy.
