Give'm what they want
Fishing has been bad for me lately due to a couple of factors. It's post-spawn and there's plenty for the fish to eat in the form of small minnows/ fry.
Okay, just one factor then.
Fry.
I've been resisting the temptation to tie on some small plastics in the one to two inch size due to being hard-headed.
So, I've returned to trying to tie a minnow jig.
Tube jig heads in 1/8 and 1/16 to make the body more uniform. Green flash and mullet EP fiber with fish hair over.

They should want it alright
-
Thanks!.
These are about 2 in long right now so either the fry will grow into them or I can trim them down.

1/64th? That's getting into fly tying territory.
Actually that's not bad.
My goal is to get my jig tying to that level one day. Really slow and detailed just for my enjoyment. That's why you see me trying different materials, mixing and matching this and that a lot.
Made him a buddy.Attachment 429006

They look buggie,,,love the V -cut tail,,,,

Tied a lot of those tube jigs in my day. You will love its balance in the water fish will too. I put eyes or spots or both on mine. Keep them coming Rezz
-
That's the first one I've cut that way. Have been practicing a bit but the result are rough.
Just need to get my focus down to that level of trimming like you!
-
Fish don't care as much as we do. Looks good to me.

Thanks a lot for that Grumpy.
I started to use bead chain eye but went with the silver bead.
Will work on some eyes...........:kewl
I've really been wanting to try light lining for crappie with light but not necessarily small jigs. It would be like fly fishing with mostly flipping out the line more that casting. Catching a big crappie like that would be about the ultimate. Just floating the jig at depth mostly while laying that jig exactly where it needs to be. :woohoo

Rezz I used to long line with a tiny splitshot on a #1 hook with a few chicken feathers tied on. I mean tied on and not like what we think of tying today. Instead of a trolling motor it was oar powered. LOL There is no wrong way to tackle this hobby. Just inventive.

Grumpy,
True enough.
I've skulled a boat quite a bit in the past and truly enjoy catching bluegills with a cane pole and popping bug.
Maybe I'm trying to get back to that these days, in more inventive ways of course!
