Timbertodd, thanks,,,,heh,,they have any big crappie out West in Oregon? I always wondered if they do any pond fishing like we do herein the Midsouth….
My biggest so far from my home lake "Henry Hagg" is 12.75". I have heard Brownlee reservoir is a fantastic fishery, but I've never fished it. It's a good 6-hour drive from me. Weve got a lot of small lakes on the west side of Oregon, but stocker trout seems to be the go to in my part of the state. Its just me, but I wish the ODFW would put more concentration towards some of the warmwater fisheries that the state has.

That's a beast
Caught on a crappie jig, hooked in his mouth, with a 10-ft ACC crappie stick and 10 lb line. It was fun, reminded me of the days pulling on ocean fish.

I can't really complain too much with what's available around me. I agree with the 6 hour drive. Thats a 3 day weekend type of trip and with gas here running $5.40 gallon and a truck that really likes its gas there wont be any distance trips in the near future.
Todd,,,you need to move to the Midsouth,,,,price of everything is much more affordable and gas is t even close to that yet. Only maybe 4.29 a Galon for regular …

My wife is from South Dakota. I would move there in a heartbeat, and I let her know that every chance I get. I love it there when we visit summer or winter. We are looking at different states as we approach retirement. Oregon is not a retirement friendly state $$$.
Timbertodd,,,I’ve been to South Dakota, great place if you don’t mind the cold,,,lots of great hunting and fishing,,,I’d check out Arkansas if I were you,,,,for the price you paid to live in Oregon, you’d live l8ke a king there,, tons of beautiful rivers and lakes and record sized trout, crappie, deer, bear and even Elk hunting these days, It’s one of our countries last untouched places,,,,
