VERY interesting news from the fisheries in Texas
Was out trying a spot that wasn't all that great for crappie for a few minutes yesterday .
this and that was biting ,with a few small crappie in the mix .
got a nice thump and set the hook and the fight got going and up came a ......
not exactly sure ? :dono
looked at first glance to be a for this area a huge yellow bass in the extra old age range .
a real battled scared veteran with more than one healed over cormorant bite on it .
the more I looked the more I thought maybe a hybridized white to a yellow ?
took 2 pictures and pitched it back in ,called the fisheries folks I know and asked 50 questions or possibly more .....:Rofl
the final take on it was this , without actually examining the DNA on the fish there was no actual way to tell for sure if it was pure yellow bass or a hybridized one .
the things on it that would identify it as a yellow were all there , but it just had a few things that didn't look quite right , the lines were broken lots more than a straight run yellow bass and not near as magic marker looking dark , it also seemed to have more of a white bass build on it as well .
the good news is this about that , it got set free to go on with it's life , so it could just be another fish story on the internet .....
KABOOM is the word :cheers2
