I have always been to afraid of that big lizard that lives back in there to launch my kayak.
A friend of mine used to show pics of a 14 foot moster back there near the mouth of the ditch on the swamp side.
Good catch. I’ve never fished in that area, but it’s gotta hold crappie. That should be a paradise for them.
I have fished Blackwells swamp for crappie and have done real good using a fly rod and a wooly bugger fly

There's a big male and female Gator in Blackwell swamp. The female usually has a nest near where the channel leaves Blackwell headed towards the river.
the channel that runs back to the river is what my friends and I growing up here refered to as "blackwell ditch". I've heard blackwell run as well.
I remeber my buddy telling me he saw the biggest gator he had ever seen near where the ditch opens up into the swamp. he swore it was every bit of 14 foot and i laughed and laughed...guess he didnt appreciate it so not long after he got a pic and even in the damn pic you could tell it was on another level. hell the head on the thing looked 3 or 4 feet long.
I've caught some absolute hammer Largemouth in the swamp. I caught a double digit in there last spring. I haven't fished it yet this year but will soon.
I'd guess the male Gator is between 10 and 12 foot. Big Gator and super thick, but not 14, LOL. They look bigger from a kayak or small boat!
