Hang gliding Shenango Lake

I have watched the video several times. Very good video.
Is this a technique that you use mostly in the fall? What water temps are you looking for to use this technique?

You put out a marker buoy, where there is brush, and then you basically troll around it? That is how I interpret it. and at what speed.

I use it all year in any water temps. The shallower the water, the longer the rods. I use 8ft to 12 ft rods to glide but a 6 to 7.5 in my hand.

I’ll only use a bouy if there’s no one around. And I troll at .3 to .5 over and thru the brush. I’m not afraid to lose some jigs. I don’t care to use braid. It tears up the brush trying to get a 12 cent jig back. I’d rather replace the jighead than replace the Brushpile. I’m not a Penny pincher like some guys.

Prolly not out there today. LOL. If it is anything like here we got hammered with snow overnight. Sooner or later this crap will be done and we can get to fishin'.

AMEN bud! That is why I use 6lb sunline. I would rather have the line break than tear up brush.
Here is a hint: Paint your marker buoys black, you can thank me later. :) Been there done that, with people looking for my buoys. LOL

Don’t need to. I use my gps to keep me on them. Still have guys sidescanning the spots as they come by waving at me. Haha. Oh well. Should be a nice week coming up. I wonder if Pymatuning north end is open yet. May head up there first.

Smitty,
I noticed you guys were using egg sinkers in the video. Is there a reason you were using egg sinkers instead of split shot? What size egg sinker would you use for that technique?

Depending on water depth, 1/4 shallower, 1/8 deeper that 15 ft. Crimp on shots that I have, have those wings on them. The tend to make your bait twist. Eggs cut thru the water smoothly. Guys are starting to use the eggs while livescoping. Helps see their bait better.

Makes sense. Thanks. Do you notice if you have fewer snags with the eggs sinkers than you do with split shot? I use split shot and wonder if those little wings get snagged at times.

Been so long since I’ve used them, I don’t remember. I’ll add a shot on my line only if I’m casting and they won’t hit the heavier jigs and I have to downsize in deeper water.
