It appears that fishing is definitely going up. So my question is???? What would the cost of fishing be like if the Keystone Pipeline was in operation.

I was wondering about that yesterday, how much do the guys in the big boats (with big outboards) spend per trip filling up with gas.
Cost a lot of money to push that much glitter close to 80mph. I am getting happier with my smaller lighter boat with a 4 stroke by the day now.
I wonder if gas prices will slow down the running and gunning bass crowd and the water fleas this summer?
Hmmm
Before the price increases my cousin said he would spend over $100 every weekend on gas for his boat! :yikes
Better him than me, I'm just not gonna do that.
Last fishing trip, I spied a professional Bass Master. All decked out in his silly little patches, like a court jester, and decals were stuck every place there was a place on his boat and truck. His boat was large, but it was his truck that caught my eye. It was an F 650. I had never seen one before and it was very impressive. It had large fat tires and large fuel tanks down each side like a tractor trailer has.
Truck was similar to this one, only covered in stickers.

I rolled up and asked was he getting a new sponsor to buy all his fuel. Man the look he shot me was great. He mumbled something or other in response. Then I hit him with it- “Can’t blame Joe for that “ That got a rise out of him. I suspect he is rightly worried about how much it will cost him to just show up at a tournament.
Sure it is gonna hurt all of us some, but others more. Low income families will be making tough choices in the coming months and years. They have to drive, and that means they have to buy fuel. This increase will also mean that the cost of all the other things they need to buy, all of them, will also be increasing in cost. This means sacrifices will need to be made. Those are likely to include food and medicine. Then there are all the other items they will be needing, but will not be able to afford. I feel sorry for their pets.
Wildlife is very likely to be impacted as well. They are after all food. Poaching will be on the increase big time. During the depression deer populations plummeted and it took decades for them to rebound. Fish and birds are also gonna suffer as poor families try to bring a meal to the table, and all for what ?
As the Game Wardens used to say. It is hard to stop a hungry man. Most understand the line between survival and poaching. Oddly enough 150 years ago. It would neither be poaching nor survival. Rather just the way life was
Gas would have to hit $20+ per gallon to get me to stop fishing or slow down.

For the memories made. The cost cannot compare. Invest the time and money and you have a lifetime of memories. There’s nothing like sitting with my boys and reliving those memories. I could have used the money in other places but don’t remember for what.
