I know somebody has to be fishing this high muddy water in these warm air temps. Who is? What ? Where you fishing? And what ya catching? And How? You need a new lake launch permit and will need a new fishing license at the end of March also. :cheers2
Got everything ready just have to get time to go..it was nice out today.
Charging batteries right now,,seen a black snake, our first butterfly, crocus is blooming. High right now 68. Time to get out but still trashed physically from working the Sports Show. Shooting for Sat.
Caught a few from the boat Saturday at stripper pits. Sun was nice, water was low 40s and fish were on the bottom in 16-18’ of water. Lite bite but managed to catch a few. First time out in the boat since taking the duck blind off and putting the fish finder back on.

Took boat out to the busy lake to your west yesterday for test run. Water temps from 43 to 50 in sun drenched protected bays. Water still up and muddy in areas. Saw them from 3 feet to deep depending on area. Lot's of them soaking up sun and ready to eat. Boat failed test. Everything worked great but I developed a leak last fall that I could not find. Thought I found and fixed it this winter but I didn't. Sure frustrating. Swimming a jig caught some but not deep and not making much noise with trolling motor. Looked for some bass too but didn't find them. Dang slime is real bad already. Now you know where I was.
Have you tried filling the boat with water with a hose when your at home to find the leak? Yep…I know where you were.Quote:

Cevans, tried to find leak by putting water in it with no luck. Thinking it is in livewell drain line. Picked up enough plugs to stop up all inlets at same time. Hopefully that will eliminate the boat as the problem.
First boat run of the new year yesterday at EC. Everything seemed good so far. Picked off about 50 fish hanging out in traditional wintering areas in 15-20 ft of water. Still ice in some areas of lake, water stained, 38-40 deg.

Outstanding! Way to go. :cheers2 Was going to get out and try out my Mega Live, but quarantined down. One of the company staff just came down with Covid and tested positive this morning. I’m going to quarantine down for a few days. Being around the masses past 10 days during the Sports Shows, it had to happen I guess. Time will tell.
Thought about going this year, but wife is ‘high risk,’ so I figured best for me to pass this year. Not worth the risk. Mainly wanted DNR passes and permits, but Cat is already 17 ft over pool, so no rush - lol.
We had a heck of a crowd with last Sat maybe a record Sat. It was crazy crowded.

So far so good…knock on wood…Kevin R. has Covid really bad as he had a bad night last night. None of the rest of us has it yet. I was heading to Des Moines Iowa Deer Classic this weekend. One of the best and largest hunting shows around. I’m staying home quarantined and riding this out as we were all hugging and congratulating each other Sunday night for having a great 14 days of setting and having the Shows.

There is 7 of us that is Renfro Productions that puts on the Indy and Cinci Shows working all year long. 3 are positive,,,4 of us are lucky and so far negative. At least we made it thru 2 months of shows before anybody got wacked with Covid after being slammed by the extremely heavy crowds this year.

Drove up to Lemon Sunday. 6 boats in lake, upper half looked pretty muddy, lower half was heavy stained, water temp was cracking 48 degrees per talking to one taking out at ramp. Drove past Monroe and Paynetown Launch was pure mud, with as far as I could see. 6 trailers and vehicles sitting in parking lot, then went to Cutright and it was pure mud with 2 parked trailers vehicles at launch. Allen’s Creek launch was pure blue green clear. Monroe is 6.5 high and rising as last nights rain dumped 2.7 inches at Monroe, and 2.3 or more at Patoka. No docks at any of the launches yet either. We got slammed last night with heavy rain keeping lakes muddy.
I filled up before driving to Lemon…topped off before going home at Bedford. Gas 3.99.9,,,,,used 5.1 gal in Rav 4,,,,,cost 21.53. It’s going to cost a lot more to fish this spring for sure.

So am I any more! :cheers2 Even this wind gusting to 24 mph this morning is tough. Later this week would be a warmer time to hit all this muddy water. Monroe is up 9’, the Cat is up 25’, Patoka is up a couple feet but everything is muddy so get used to fishing mud. Water temp had to take a dive down also..heck of a spring with gas prices also going up. Indiana Slabmasters has their first tourney on Patoka March 26. Indiana Bass has their first tourney on Patoka March 27th so that weekend avoid the zoo.
I made a couple spring trips to Mississippi with Billbob. Muddy water is the norm down there. It does not bother me 1 bit anymore !Quote:

Thinking about going to racoon lake (cecil harden) tomorrow. Is that what you mean by "coon"? I am curious what you mean by back to normal. Anything I should know before I decide to head that way? I have only fished it once in late summer last year, so not familiar with the seasonality yet.Quote:

Louisville District Daily Lake Report You should find crappie long lining jigs as they won’t be in the banks yet. If using electronics…you can find crappie also in the deep. I’ve caught crappie on Raccoon when it was so high, muddy,,and full of debris that you barely squeezed under 36 bridge long lining jigs in early spring. Time waits on nobody. If long lining jigs…and you catch nice fish double back and see if you find them schooled up, then stop and cast the schools. Check your electronics. Search is on in spring time in deep water.
Thanks all. loading up the boat now. heading that way just before dawn. I'll report back. Those tips are helpful. I did find out when i went last year that it was different than what I am used to at Monroe and Patoka. Not near as much structure as those 2.
I just hope the boat ramp is open at the SRA and isn't as slippery as last time. I really busted my rump and soaked myself last time. it was like it was covered in snot. I had to crawl out on all 4's :biggrin
