We'll be down that week doing the same and probably some crappie fishing too. Come by the house and visit with us, we may even fry some up a night or two!
If history repeats that'll be a good week.
Here’s that week last year.

If you see the Epic on the lake, stop by and say Hi!
Hope it will be, last year we were a week earlier and they had not moved all the way up. A few years ago we were down over the 15th and caught a bunch that year, We are stayin in Bobby Brown on the Savannah side. Will get back with you closer to date to find out more.
Anyone catching any around Broad River? will be down in a little over 4 weeks from now.
What are temps up near the Broad River? Last week it was hot so I know it raised temp up but this weekend will cool it back down.
We are having boat motor problems and have switched to back up boat, it goes to shop tomorrow to get a tune up, has not been run in 10 years so carburetor will have to be rebuilt. Wish us luck so we can make it down.
Hopefully the lake will go down and the mud will clear by the time you arrive. I was there this weekend and I had to roll my pants legs up just to get to the dock walkway. The lake is now in the back yard!
I too am doing some boat repairs/maintenance in preparation for our week of fishing on 3/27-4/03.
I did receive a local report of some nice stripers being caught on Lake Russell.
Chris
Yeah we are taking boat to have tuned up since it has not run in a few years and hope to get it back in a week so we can test it out. Hope to see you while we are there, will get back in touch when we get boat running.
Heard any good news lately? Motor needed a new stator and some other stuff but he should be finished with it by first of week, then we can take to lake and fine tune everything, depth finder and test motor under load. I see where lake is only a foot over full today and still going down, guess water is clearing up some also. We plan on going down on the 16th and setting up camper and picking up some bait. Looking forward to getting away for a week. Send me an email to [email protected]
Will be down in two weeks, any advise on stripers.
Sounds like youre gonna need plenty of bait!;)
Without a doubt you’re gonna need lots of bait. They’re munching!!!

My last trip to the hill was last Saturday. I caught two small hybrids while longlining. They put up a good fight but cause a real tangled mess to your long line setup.
Those fish can have you spending your next 30 minutes or so trying to untangle lines. I once ran across a school of them while long lining. I had 8 lines out and had 5 of them hook the small hybrids all at once. I was exhausted by the time I got all of the fish in the boat and the mess straightened out.
Looks like lake is going down now, just hope it does not rain a lot later this week. We leave Sat. for a week so wish us luck.
Chris, with the lake down a foot did that pull all the trash out too or is it still trashy?
I’m not there so I’m not sure. I’d imagine the wind has the trash pushed up in corners as much as it’s been blowing.

Went this afternoon in my part of the lake. Debris was not too bad except in some pockets where it looked like they were protected from the wind. There could still be some big stuff floating around. I pulled out a cut off plastic drum that looked like maybe someone had been using it as a trash bin. I could long line OK until I hit those few pockets that had mostly pine blooms and other pine parts. Caught a catfish about 3 lbs, a hybrid about 2 lbs, a small bass, and just 3 crappie but one was well over a lb. The water at least in my area was not as bad as I expected. It is down far enough that I can wade out to my dock without it getting over knee high.
Good to know. Been fishing Lake Russell for the past two weeks. Cant wait to get back to the hill.;)
Sorry, missed this post earlier, but middle section of the lake. Good news is the lake is now down to about 331.4 or 1.4 ft above full pool and clearing up more. Bad news is three days of rain is expected Saturday through Monday. Hopefully we do not get near as much as we did earlier. It took about a week of no rain to drop the lake 3 ft.
